Been Around the Block

Hi,

Just wanted to say hi to everyone, I used to come here quite a lot when I was still painting and modelling. But due to other hobbies and real life I started neglecting this great hobby and the interested faded.
This happened 5 years ago or so.

Now since september last year I've started playing Warhammer Age of Reckoning online and I'm having a blast there. However as a side effect the interest in the hobby is growing again.

So I'm back on dakkadakka and I hope I can get my paintquality up to the old level.

Now my first hurdle is trying to reanimate my old paint collection, because it turned quite gooey. Going to put a stainless steel nut + a few drops of water in each pot and shake them a bit to see if I can reanimate them. ( any tips? )

If not it's time to spend some cash ( thinking about either citadel or vallejo paint ), good thing however is that I don't need to buy new models because I still have a fantasy chaos army that's 40% painted and a tau army that's 10% painted and various other models.

Further info

I'm a 28 year old mechanical engineer from Holland

update:

I reanimated 35 of the 43 paint pots I had, done this by adding a stainless steel nut to each pot and a drop of water or two. Also did some stirring with a matchstick were needed. Afterwards I put in some elbow grease and gave all the pots a good stir.

Special mention to the old design flip top pots that were out of production when I started playing and painting. Back in those days I managed to get hold of a few and the metallic paints and inks in these pots were in better condition then those in screw top lids.

So this only gives me hope for the new flip tops made by citadel.

Welcome! I had to reanimate my old paints too after them sitting lonely for 6 years! But the old pots do work best! If you need to add water I'd recommend a few drops of hot water, and I find the end of an old paintbrush works best for stirring, the citadel paintbrushes have a painted handle with smooth edges so its easy to wipe clean!
