Alright, I am thinking about getting some drop pods, and I have heard good and bad things about them. My question is: are they a pain to model? I may be the most impatient, irritable modeller ever; if it involves rubber bands and a crazy voodoo lady to get the damn thing to fit together right, count me out!

Anybody?

I found it ok as long as you plan ahead and don't rush it as the insides can be a bit fiddly!

But they are great on the table so go and get some! now

theyre relitively easy to scratchbuild, so if your low on money, you could always scratchbuild 1

I'd put large pieces together first and paint them all up, and then once they are all painted put them together.

To the OP: So, you have no monoliths, land raiders, baneblades (or any other guard tank), land speeders or anything larger than an infantryman in plastic?

All they require is patience and a gentle hand. Rubber bands and voodoo are not required, but may prove helpful. The sacrifice of the neighbourhood children can also help (if only to shut the little b*stards up and get them offa your lawn).

Don't try to rush them, and you'll be fine. If you need one for a game that day, then don't attempt to start it that day. Give it a week to go together, and you'll be fine.

Not very long in a not too distant galaxy (ok it was about 5 years ago!) I assembled a monolith. Took me damn near 20 hours to do, along with some creative rubber band work. It still looked like poo. Since that day, I have vowed to never assemble that annoying of a model ever again. I went on to do a Land Raider, a few rhinos, and over a dozen LRBTs. Sure, I encountered some resistance, but NEVER anything that irritating. So, I shall rephrase the question: does all the fiddly bitz and corners/edges generally fit together how they are supposed to? If not, I will continue to use empty beer cans as proxies!

They fit together just fine but trust me on this you need to put it together in this order.
Glue the doors together.
File the join between the front and back of the doors.
Glue the fan bits to the bottom if the base.
Glue the top and bottom of the base with the doors between them.
Assemble the computer console.
Assemble the restraints.
Glue the restraints to the computer making sure that the restraint with the small skull is glued to the side with the small screen on it.
Glue this to the base.
Assemble the top thruster/gun turret.
Prime and paint.
Finish according to instructions.
Small clamps will help holding the fins together during assembly better than rubber bands.

Didn't mean to be so snippy.
Rubber bands and patience are my two best tools for GW models. Although spring pegs and bulldog clips come a close second.

Mine went together with no issues (although I didn't put the centre console or restraints in as I'm using it as a deathstorm pod and the launchers aren't done yet).

I do maintain, though, that you can't rush things if you don't want them to look crap. Take your time and follow the instructions.
