Moopy posted a request if anyone had seen or heard about chimera recuts.

I have seen some earlier pics related to hellhounds but that has been covered and come from the IG thread noting something that looked like a hellhound in a WD pic.

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Before the thread was hijacked by some very immature people, I mentioned that we hadn't see anything since that CAD. And looking at the original pic and the summary we just got, I'd hazzard a guess and say it was the Devil Dog - the Chimera with the Melta Cannon.

My credit-stealing doppleganger posted another pic, one I'd not seen before, that showed the detailing on the Chimera's side, and it was completely different o the current one. Could it be that, in order to redesign the track assemblies, they just decided to redesign the whole thing?

I want to see a picture of this devil dog. can someone post one up??

I personally am happy with the design of the chimera and russ. I just wish they would re-arrange the sprues and put more tank accessory goodness onto them!!

I wonder what CAD system they used for that design? The XYZ coordinate system is completely different from most Automotive based CAD softeware programs......

Sorry, the automotive CAD led me to this place :(
I find it a little high and boxy looking, but then GW always errs on the side of making their tanks too tall. Maybe it is just because it is a bit narrower as Grandmaster pointed out.

The 'floats' on the panels are thinner. The hull looks a little thinner too, but maybe that's an illusion. I find it ironic that you can't fit 8 terminators in the footprint of a landraider, but a chimera's footprint is huge for the 10 guardsmen inside!

Don't forget the vehicles are all made at 75% scale...or 25% smaller than they should be...which is why guys really never seem to fit right in the hatches...as for the chimera... the drivers hatch sticks out more...it was situated just under the lip of the tracks now it seems to stick out 3-5mm. looks like they extended the lower armor plate...the hull mounted weapon is still in its original spot...yeah the floats are thinner and a hatch is molded in...do we have any pics of the new hellhound or stock new chimeras for comparison?

Credit? What credit did I steal? Unless you mean credibility.

Please find attached the pic shown at Games Day UK 2008 (photo credit to Col.Gravis) of the new side panel detail on the Chimera. The floatation sponsons are also noticably thinner and match those on the Devil Dog CAD. I'm under the impression the turret we see on the Devil Dog is not going to be the same for the Chimera.

The Chimera sponsons house the engines, they are not hollow floatation devices.

Did H.B.M.C's and JohnHwangDD's rant actually spring to life?

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/60/229644.page#560807

I guess that is what happens when two parodoxical forces find themselves in agreement

Interesting how both HBMC and HMBC hail from Australia and both have a concluding 3-letter phrase...hmmm...

EDIT: I actually started a separate thread so that I wouldn't hi-jack this one:

Whilst that may be the case according to GW/FW (it was shown as such in Imperial Armour at least) I prefer to think, and believe makes more sense, that they are floatation sponsons given the specifically amphibious nature of the Chimera. Although GW doing smaller ones would seem to put paid to that.
