Hi, there!
I'm working hard on creating a nice Army Book for those sneaky, wolfriding Eastern Greenskins-- the Hobgoblins!
http://www.aferris.net/hobgoblin-book.pdf
I'm going onto different boards to ensure I get a nice wide variety of opinions on the rules I am doing and I can make sure nothing is overlooked.
I'd love to hear any and all input the users of this board have. I look forward to seeing the expression of fellow greenskin fans!

I like this. It's well set out, has everything you need, a lot of information and looks good. The units aren't overpowered, and they have some cool fluff to it. Go the Waki'Ya! The idea of tigers I think wasn't that great, but everything else is cool. The one problem with them is that they don't have many hard hitting units, if you get what I mean. The hardest hitters would be the Tiger Raiders, but that's just cause of the tigers, which are awesome!

I like it but are you even allowed to use it?(or rather do you think opponents will let you use it?)

A lot of people seem to not care for the tigers. :(
You know, I figured there had to be a limit to the power one could pack into a Hobgoblin-- when you get to the super heavy human/elf cavarly then you get big, bulky 4+ armor and skills and so forth... I figured the greenskins would just ride into battle on a bigger, badder animal.
And when you look at the animals you find in Mongolia and Siberia, besides large wolfs you have large bears and large tigers. In this list I've already put in a touch of the prehistorical by adding hyenas to the mix which haven't existed in Europe since before humans moved in there. So I was left with bears or tigers, the former of which is already claimed by Kislev but GW also doesn't create models that can be utilized for the role while no one has yet to touch the later although the Ogre Kingdoms models do have a usable Sabretooth model that can certainly be converted into a tiger more easily than one can convert anything into a bear.

I like the tigers okay. Not a big fan of "rage riders" though. Just as a name, it's kind of lacking. Overall though, it has a really neat feel to it. Sort of a combination of mongol hordes and prince of thieves. ::EDIT:: Also, the Sorcerer has kind of a generic name. Maybe change that?

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

I like the Mongol theme, with heaps of cavalry and lead by Khan's. I've got a question on the purpose of Lure. What's the purpose of it? I can't see a real benefit behind it.

Lure is a sneaky tactic that is useless if misused, but if used cunningly can be quite powerful.
First of all, it makes it so that you can 'bet against' yourself in combats that you think you are going to lose and increase your survivability for doing so.
Second, it allows you to pull enemies out of formation, even pull them into a formation where they are blocking and stumbling over each other. This can allow you to deny the enemy charges, block their shooting with their own troops blocks, etc.
Third, if the enemy does somehow get a charge on you, you can 'give up', rally and then turn around and get the charge on them in situations where you wouldn't have been able to use a charge reaction to flee (either because you were tied up in combat with an enemy or they charged from too close).
Fourth, it allows you to use one block of troops that would be too weak to do any real damage to pull an enemy in one direction and then flank them with a more damaging block from another.
Granted, there are races where it is difficult or even impossible to make the enemy fail a psychology check so it won't be useful against those armies except for the first purpose, if you know you'll lose combat then you can declare it before fighting and get extra run distance, but with those with low enough Ld to be affected by fear and terror, all the others become possibilities.
It's a very subtle ability, not one that is meant to just thoughtlessly hand one victory like Eternal Hatred or Always Strikes First.

Thanks for that. Is this list designed to be competitive like Vamps and Daemons or just fun to use? That said, Vamps are great fun and I love using them. I like it how you can have a full cav army, I've always like the Mongols.

It's designed to be competitive against Orcs & Goblins, Empire, Brettonia, High Elves, Wood Elfs, etc.
It may be able to stand fine against Warriors of Chaos, Dwarfs (particularly a hard one) or Dark Elves if some people tried it out then I'd know for sure!
There are a couple things here that may help you stand up to VC or Daemons about as well as any of the above armies do. When you have broken, abusive armies the goal shouldn't really be to make it as good as the worst-thought-out armies out, you know?
But barring the broken, top-tier armies, I am fairly certain this list is both well-balanced and offers you enough available options that it should be able to run against the low and mid-tier armies perfectly fine! Try proxying some models and trying it out then report back on your findings.

I really like this book. It's very different, and the Mongol theme works beautifully.
A few things, though:
- Rage Riders is sort of a dumb name.
- The special character Gorduz Backstabber can choose Magic Items, which seems sort of odd to me. SCs usually don't have any options.
- Wolf Riders have an option for additional hand weapons. Cavalry models cannot get the +1 attack bonus for wiedling two hand weapons, however.
- 109 points for Gorduz Backstabber? Not 110, or 105?

The man speaks the truth. Sneaky gits have been a part of Hobgoblin fluff for ages now. PM me for more details.

Ahem...
The Sneaky Gits tribe were expelled by the Hobgobla khan according to the ancient fluff, that's how they came to be working for the Chaos Dwarves. No sneaky gits in the steppelands no more.

That's a great list idea. I really like it from a game design point of veiw. Some typos in there, but good work!
