Possibly most usefull to strip down for parts for other model conversions. It actually looks more DE to my eye, but ther's no shortage of talented converters out there.

If it's stupid & it works, it's not stupid.

Too cool to be used for SM. THAT is a dark eldar buggie/torture device.

A guy at my LGS is converting one of those into a landraider equivalent for his Dark Knights space marine chapter. Looks quite nice.

i don't think it fits well with space marines despite the fact that i really like that design. first off, SM don't seem to have any wheeled vehicles, only tracked. (bikes don't technically count as vehicles) also, SM vehicles have clean armor lines while this has armor plates more in line with the newer ork vehicles, lol.

Yeah, it'd be pretty easy to Ork that up, but frankly, it'd be really interesting to develop an entire DE army that uses wheeled vehicles rather than anti-grav technology. That would make for a pretty wicked DE model.

They did in 2nd Ed. But that's only relevant to people who still play it.

It's also very distinctive, which means that barring a lot of conversion work, it looks like a Batman model got put ont he table by accident.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

i'd agree that those two would be the best armies to use it. ork'ing it up would be easy with all the bits that are left unused from the new line and the old. i admit i didn't think of the dark eldar (and most people don't since 3rd edition, lol) but i think you're right about them. I'd say convert the wheels into a vectored thrust slot and add a raider tail/fin or two on the back and it'll make an awesome close topped landraider equivalent for the DE.

Altough they are few things that are save from my Big Meks (yes, plural), I don't think I would be able to do this. I just couldn't...

It's a nice model, sure, but it simply does not fit into 40k, no matter how hard you try to force a square peg into a round hole.

That would be awesome as a DE superheavy skimmer tank, or perhaps a special Night Lords Thunderhawk.

As much as I do rag on 40k's derivative army backgrounds (coming from starcraft among other places), I will admit they have some differences in art designs. I agree with Aggy.

I'm still holding out hope that Tau players will recognize that while Tau are animu, they're not gundam-kit-as-titans animus.

I think you'll find that Starcraft is more derivative of 40K than the other way round. The 40K background has been around for a lot longer than Starcraft has existed.

And let's assume for the sake of argument that we are talking about breaking it down and converting it, not spray painting it Ultramarines Blue, slapping a decal or 3 on it and plunking the bugger down on the table.

You know, converting it, like all the people who talked about using it suggested.

Now this kit is pretty badass! Not that the tumbler isn't awesome, mind you.
I don't know if I'd do something SM with it, but I would definitely use it for some near-future stuff I want to do with some of the fire-sale AT-43 stuff I've picked up.

That other kit loos pretty cool. Though I think its got Tau written all over it rather than marines or anything else really.

Lately it's near impossible for me to look at any model kit and not think " I wonder how I could Ork that up " and these two kits are no exception.
I think combining both these kits along with a Battle wagon or land raider (along with a bitz box raid) would yeild a hell of,although expensive Battle fortress.

That was the joke. Though with how derivative 40k is, teasing diehard warhamsters about its origin from Starcraft is enjoyable.

Yes, that's always what is being said. But what is always being done is "slap some bits and call it done" when you see conversions. Rarely do I see a wholly converted non-GW kit that at least resembles the target's aesthetics.

Just you wait and see sir!

*sigh* You are probably right though on that count. We probably ARE more likely to see it sprayed blue with two heavy bolters glued to it than a nice conversion.
Still, I think it could be made into some good things by people who care about aesthetics. I am willing to concede however that those people might not be the ones to grab a version and go "Marius = BATMANS!!!!"
