Naturally, I worry for those who happen to wander in and are wearing REGULAR hats, terribly unaware of the faux pas they are committing.

I would absolutely support a silly hats competition alongside/during a GT. Player-run fun like this adds to the joy. As a more serious (but possibly more drunken) example, some of the Indy GTs I’ve attended include after-hours poker tournaments.

Go for it. Yes, non-sense like this is often a fun break. And it's lot like it's dressing up ala LARP players. I mean, they really bring the whole genre down!

I had a friend post a converted Karchev (WM Khador fig) with mudflaps with Yosemite Sam on them. Someone's response was something to the effect of, "wargames are too serious for silly things like this." WTF? Games not fun?

how dare you mock my MR.huggles jammies shame on you,and yes I do think there should be a silly hat event as well silly hats rock.I also think that it would boost moral,you'll be like"Dude im so sad I didn't win the best painted army prize,but no worries im wearin a large Funny hat so I got that comp in the bag!"
