so i was thinking, whats the possibility of Necron and Tyranid forming a "consume all" alliance?

We know they avoid each other ( ctan cant eat tyranid essence , tyranid cant salvage necron biomass )

So why not combine forces, and split the loots after ?

Ctans can eat all the souls they want, and tyranids will clean up the dead bodies into biomasses.

I don't even think the C'Tan talk to each other a whole lot, much less other races.

Plus, I've never hear of the Hive Mind communicating with anything that wasn't a Tyranid.

Doesn't seem like it would happen.

How about C'tan have Shunned the hive mind out of the bugs and are using them for Meat shields. To me I can't see a mutual alliance there without one controlling another somehow, and I don't think the hive mind can possess tin cans. Kind of go along the lines of traitor guard or plague marines-Inductees if you will. That's my suggestion.

To go along with tyranid fluff maybe the hive mind has been taken out of the picture. Now they are mindless eating machines and wander upon a battle in which the necrons are fighting something. Seeing as that fleshy talons don't hurt solid metal a whole bunch they decide to fight the softer of the two enemies.

Yeah, but the Tyranids already have like a billion symbiotic relationships going on with themselves, so they're probably not looking to branch out.

Also, there is only war!

Necrons are pretty much made out of Grimdark, so they'd be the first to go if the game started allowing friendship in it.

Tyranids are life, the necrons would therefore kill them all. The necrons are not life, so the tyranids would not care about killing them. They wouldn't team up or be symbiotic or anything. If they ran into each other, the necrons would try to eradicate the nids, and the nids would just defend themselves.

One of the long-lost races of Rogue trader is the Zoats who were centaur-like nids charged with negociating and communicating with other races (and subverting them and stalling them until they could be eaten). Plus there were Genestealer cults who infiltrated human society.

But as for an alliance, just don't see it. Necrons want to kill, Nids want to eat, they're more or less opposites.

Yeah, the Zoats weren't originally Tyranids so I'm not sure how they fit in. The Hive Mind stopped trying with them though, so I don't think they were too successful.

Both eat life, both scary as heck, seems right to me.

Dude... what if the nids took the biomass from a nightbringer into their hive and distributed the gene code... T8 gaunts :O?

Zoats, Genestealer Cults, and a short story featuring Space Wolf Scouts penetrating a Tyranid ship and having their Rune Priest in training have an entire conversation with the Hive Mind where it tempts him to join it and then eats him to force him to do it anyway.

That sounds like a really bad story.

There's some speculation that one of the C'Tans, the Outsider I believe, is the reason that they nids entered the galactic plane to begin with.

Nids avoid Necron tomb planets like they're contaminated, and hive fleets have moved out of their way to go around them. Whether it's because the nids can sense the life-devouring nature of the C'Tan or because there's no life at all on a tomb world - only GW knows.

The C'Tan are crafty, though, especially the Deceiver and if anything in the grimdark can direct/influence/manipulate the hivemind it would be the Deceiver. Tyranids do make use of warp energy though, something the C'Tan and Necrons find anathema.

It's not likely that there would be a supervillan team up, but I'd give the idea of one side using the other decent odds. More likely than Ghazghkull sitting down for tea with Eldrad and Abbaddon playing My Little Ponies with Calgar.

the *fluff behind my nid is , they are a group of splinterfleet thats some how
lost their link with the main hive , renegade Imperium scientists took the opportunity
to create a fake synapse link. They implant the machines to all the synapse creatures,
thus successfully been able to control the whole fleet

Nonsense. The only reason Nids even exist is because the Orks believe there's a better opponent out there.

I don't think there's enough justification for it for GW to authorize it en masse. That being said, it's a neat idea and I think it would make for a cool scenario. Design a mini campaign around it and share it with Dakka
