My local game store ran a finish-an-army-challenge. Goal was to for each participant to finish a block of 750 points each month. Blocks would be judged at the end of each period for progress against where you started from. Prizes were awarded for 1) People's Choice, 2) completion points (progress against baseline, quality, bonus unit, scenery, etc), and lastly 3) the horde award for the most figures.

The challenge actually dragged out longer than expected and ran a total of 5 months. Over that 5 months, I finished 138 Tyranids (3,100 points) in addition to another 108 Orks. Here are the fruits of my labors.



Happily, I took the 1 of 3 prizes for points, 1 of 3 prizes for People's Choice and was People's Choice runner up the other 2 times. All in all, an excellent experience.

Very nice- I like the blog showing the progress, especially the "When I'm done, I should be able to store my entire army on the refrigerator door." bit- that's hilarious (but a really cool idea).

Just reminds me how much I need to finish my orks...

I almost picked up a barbed hierodule at the LA Battle Bunker over Christmas, but just couldn't get myself to plop down the money for one.

For the sculpts, I think I'd have gone for a Malenthrope and Trygon.

Yeah, nice sculpts ... probably not in my price range though. Maybe in the future.

I guess not completely done ... have a hive tyrant coming in the mail, need to pick up two more tyrant guards and paint 3 biovores and 3 zoanthropes ... but the army challenge is over.

Yea those look good. Everytime I see that much paitned I remember Im doing mostly horde Orks... and it makes me cry
