Alright, going through some of the Strategic Assets in Apoc (and Apoc:Reload), I was wondering:

Some of the assets say "(One use only)" or "one (and only one) turn", but if it doesn't say that, can it be used EVERY turn?

For the case above, the asset I was looking at was in Reload, a Necron asset by the name of "Subvert Machine", basically I wanna know if I can use it more than once...

If you even worry about stuff like that, you have missed the point of Apocalypse.

Way, way missed it.

Did the part about "one" of your shooting phases confuse you? If you got to use it more than "one" time, it might have used a word other than "one".

Apologies if you are reading a non-English translation that got butchered.

Well, with the "one" wording, one of the assets right beside it says "one", then goes on to say it can be used more than once...

Reconstruction Scarabs work on one unit per turn, once revealed. It seems that for Necrons in Apoc Reload, they are all fairly clear. I'm not saying they all are but that is GW for you, Clear, schmear!

Do you roll ice cubes for dice? Ba-Dump-Bump!

When I play in Apoc big games, I field some variation on The Great Court. That way, I get to field most of my fun models. They also happen to be mostly painted.

Have fun!

It doesn't bug me. I get to enjoy my painted army and then win by wiping out everything they have that's scoring.

Actually, at the FLGS, unprimed models aren't allowed on the table lol.

When I host an Apoc game, I don't let unpainted models on the board. When the board is 6'x32', it's tough enough keeping track of things as is, let alone with a bunch of unpainted stuff blending together. We run a lot of Apoc though, at least one big game a month, so people work on getting their stuff done.

We did allow Shadowswords/Stormlords and Stompas to be unpainted for our last Apoc game, but only because people had a whopping two days to buy the kit and put it together. My two stompers were, of course, painted by then. But I cheat.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Seriously?

For one thing, 6'x32' board sounds insane. But why do you care if models are painted or not, especially in apoc? Is this a tournament or just with friends? There are 5 people I play 40k with, and at least 75% of all our armies are grey/primed, and each of us has at least 2-3k pts.

To the OP, do you live in Alberta?

Important contextual note: Mikhaila owns/operates several gaming stores. It's definitely in his interest to promote pretty painted armies on the (giant!) tabletop.

These are held at my store in Philly. We started requiring fully painted armies for all of our events years ago.
We often rent out extra space to hold big events, spend a couple thousand dollars a year, (and untold hours of work) making scenery and tables. A lot of work goes into the events on our side. In return we ask that players paint their armies for the events. To help them, we've held weekly painting classes with free paint for the last 7 years.

It helps a ton in Apocalyspe to have stuff painted. When you get 40,000 pts per table side, it gets fairly confusing. Requiring painted armies, armie lists, and rulebooks also helps winnow out the players that would slow the game down to a crawl. We like to get in 6 turns of our Apoc games. It's too much work to spend 6 hours setting up and rolling dice and only getting in 3 turns. I'd rather have 10 people per side, with painted armies and players that know the rules, than 20 per side and a mix of unpainted armies and newer players that can barely handle 40k, let alone and Apoc megabattle.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

It bugs me when playing a 6000 point Apocalypse game versus Chaos Space Marines......and the opponent doesn't have a single Chaos Space Marine on the table! Not one!

Plenty of Defilers, Landraiders, Vindicators, Greater Deamons, Deamon Princes and Obliterators though.

*shakes head*

Let it be know that I blame Americans for that kind of thing.

Sorry, I didn't know that.

It's also kinda different with my group, because there is no set point value for our games, we just use our entire collection sorted into teams. Theres a 2k-something nid army, around 2k pts tau, 2k pts chaos, 5k pts SM, and my 8k pts chaos as a guesstimate. I haven't gotten into any games since I started Orks, because we all have school/work, and a couple of these guys have bills to pay.

We have to put limits on what folks bring to ours, too many people in the area that can field 10k to 20k in painted figures.)
We're going to start doing a few with just 2-3 of us per side, start at 9pm, and play until 6am. Then we can field our whole armies.

Shameless Advertisement, since you asked.

Showcase Comics, 2 Locations in Media and Bryn Mawr.

Media store is in the Granite Run Mall, 8 tables and we rent out a larger space for bigger events.
Bryn Mawr store is on Rt. 30, lancaster avenue. Has 3 tables upstairs and 4 more in a gaming room downstairs. Both have as good a stock of GW models as a GW store, plus quite a bit more from other companies. Much stuff going on at both. In WD's store listings, and on the GW store finder.
