Ive been messing around play testing different armies. And I started wondering what you play space marines why not take all your troop choices. I had an idea of taking 6 tactical squads of 10 marines Flamer and MM. 3 with power weapons and 3 with power fist. And drop them in Razorbacks with Heavy Bolters.

Just looking for a word why or why not people field 6 tac squads.

Generic roled marines look generic D:

they are boring to look at, thus the reason
why i would never field just marines no matter
how good they are.

Most of the time, people dont use the full 6 tacticals because there are just better things to have. Since they have the ability to combat squad, 3 tacticals is usually the most you'll ever need. While they have a good save and good Ld, they dont give you much firepower or assault ability, to its better to spend the points remaining on other things like terminators/landraider/sternguard. The most I will ever take is 4 tac squads, and thats more for fluff reasons than anything else.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

Group the Flamers and Meltas together, don't split them in each. I'm doing this with Chaos with awesome results. 60 shots or up to 120 shots is a lot of firepower. Dunno the cost on razorbacks (might be ineffecient) but you could buy them for each squad and just let them sit back and support fire as well. A lot of anti-horde stuff like templates or scatter lasers that would wipe out other hordes you still get a save against, too. Good stuff

Well, Tactical squads are the jack of all trades, but the master of none.
I'd take 3 or 4 troop units, not more, and fill the rest with units that can give shooty support and cc specialists.
