Discarding of course the Heavy Support which cannot get any Jump Packs, how would it do?

I ask, as CC Marines seem so awesome to me, and so do Jump Packs. DESIRE!

Regards
Jimmy

It would be fine - it's the only way to play JP Marines effectively.

you'd need some tanks to block LOS and give coversaves as you close.

Something I'd considered, as Heavy can't take Jump Packs anyways, so we might as wel use it to give those who can jump additional use.

Thanks for the replies, gentlemen. Looks like my next project is in the formative stages.

I wouldn't bother worrying about taking heavies to provide cover much. I'd max out on jump-equipped infantry and Death Company with Corbulo and just bet on having enough bodies closing fast enough to mitigate the damage shooty armies can do.

If you go first, 12" move with 1-6" run should easily have you close enough to assault on turn 2. Killing 60 MEQ in one shooting phase is *hard* to do for any army.

Take meltas to crack open transports and get at the juicy bits inside for the assault, and your infantry spam army should be reasonably effective.

Well, I've made a formative list, but I doubt it would be effective, but, hell, it looks like fun if nothing else. Simply put it revolves around Furioso Dreads drop podding behind(into) enemy lines to Melta some tanks early on, as footslogging Jet Packers charge forward to dice up anything else that the Dreads have left.

Probably ineffective, but possibly hilarious. Who knows?

A mech SM army shreds the jump pack army. You assault their transports then they get out, shoot you and then assault your Marines... you are handing them the victory.

so with any luck it should do ok.

Its not that bad, depending on the amount of marines he has available he can surround transports and force a emergancy Disembark. He would also have enough guys left over to shoot/assault whatever is in it.

I have six vehicles in my army. I would spread them out like laWn chairs at a Zepplin concert.

GBF, take a look at the jump army i wrote up.
i hope each of those vehicles can kill a unit each per turn

each unit has the ability to pop armour, and where i have quite a few units they can easily spread out making use of cover, and since they have jumps, then it wont take them long to get there.

My list for BA is styled after the old 3rd edition rhino rush. Some have mistakenly called it a fourth edition army... hee! I have Dante and Corbulo which can make my list even more potent. I can position my transports and Baals such that a jump heavy opponent cannot close hatch my transports. They will end up having to assault my rhinos from one side. I then disembark, shoot them and then charge them with all the bonuses... preferred enemy, -1 WS and furious charge. I run a lot of power fists too which is a big edge. My Baals will target their best units (DC, VAS or HG) to whittle them down as they approach. I have used these same tactics successfully against nob bikers on more than one occassion. The jump heavy army has no ranged shooting so my armor is nigh invulnerable until the opponent can close to within 12". AOCE makes a mech list even better. If you have played 3rd edition BA I am sure you will understand my philosophy.

"Emergency disembark" does not pin a unit, it simply makes it unable to act for the player turn that they disembark. If they're emergency disembarking on their opponents turn, they can act normally on their own turn.

Also, as the previous post was talking about using CC to pop the transports (since you're using an all-jumppack army), you won't be able to assault or shoot the baddies that get out, thus leaving you open to getting shot/assaulted on the enemy turn.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Well, here's the list I popped together, while falling asleep.

Any comments on it would be grand.

Yes but your thinking only one unit, you can corral a enemy by forcing them to disembark on a side of the vehicle that benifets you the most, with 2 squads you can drop the tank, then kill the guys inside. Green Fly also is talking about shooting them as they advance but since the majority (indeed if not all) of the army has Jump Packs the option to Deep Strike also exists.

If you Deep Strike, that's probably a big mistake.

Deep Strike is random arrival, with scatter, and no Assault on arrival.

People keep telling me this, and yet it always works for me
