including farsight,
you can get:
7 bodyguards for farsight (8 suits)
another HQ choice plus 2 bodyguards for 3 suits
and 9 suits in your elite slots.
so, 20 suits maximum, but this is irrelevant, since 9 suits is already a fairly suit heavy army, so it's not like you really need farsight to spam suits. Now, if they changed him so he made crisis suits troops, then things would be different....

Enmitee, that's not true. 13 of them would be able to gain bs 4 (7 from farsights possy, 3 from the extra HQ and his bodyguards and 3 from being sqaud leaders)
Considering that pretty much all of your suits would be armed with multi-trackers, you would be able to fire 2 weapons on each suit. That's 40 weapons and if your taking all the suits with cheese into combat (ie. plasma, missile pod, multi-tracker) you would have 20 rapid fire str 6 ap 2 hits, along with 38 str 7 ap 3 hits to boot. That's ALOT of dead space marines.
Also consider the massive bonuses that each suit come with - 2 Wounds spreadable over the squads, Loads of extra tools, Ability to take Drones (Shield drone spam!!), Acute snese, Relentless, JSJ, Ability to Deep Strike...
The only drawback to this is that your stuffed against heavy tanks like land raiders. Good news is that you only used up Elite and HQ slots ^_^
I think i just fell in love with crisis suits even more....

in theory it looks great, but:
1: how many points would that leave for troops?
2: can you wipe out 2 units of nob bikers in 1 turn?
3: is that enough fire power to stop 180 orks?
4: do you really want all those points tied up in units that cant hold objectives?
5: how do they work against fast moving or mobile armies?

moving how many inches again? is that a 6 per phase + another 6 on the assault phase? not too mobile imo. Str 7 ap 3? last i check missile pods had a higher AP value. and yeah, with such a massive size, il just take an average HTH unit to tie it up. problem solved.
This sort of list was pulled on me twice if i can remember correctly, looks good on paper, but that's about it.

your wrong there anmitee.
an average HTH unit would more than likely kill them.
even in the suits tau are gak in combat.
now, a dedicated unit like death company or zerkers would go through a few suits a turn without any problems

Perhaps the 20 suits approch is more useful in apoc with lots of heavy units backing you up?

20 suits act as a nice mobile firebase, but i would allways make sure that crisis dont go over 1/2 of your points.
broadsides, railheads and stealth should use up another chunk, but make sure theres enough points for atleast 3 FW units with fish.

Bounce and shoot, bounce and shoot, staying right on the edge of range to avoid any charges , all the while taunting your enemy to chase them down while you blast them to pieces. Hopefully use of this massive mobile fire-base would make extensive use of cover to ensure less return fire against you as well.
Although it would be horribly expensive depending on the size of your army (point wise) and any really shooty army like IG will make your life very very difficult, and any Objective based mission will put your Troops choices into a 'must not die' category.
