Hey,

I know we have the HQ/battle bunker here and quite a few GW stores but any clubs in Maryland. I'm in Ellicott City but willing to travel about 30 min or so.
I have been out of the game for about 8-10 years and finally getting back in with my SM army that is almost complete.

Thanks!

I'm looking also. Pretty much in the same position too. I havent played in about 10 years and am just getting back into it. Slowly working up on my marines and a small empire force for fantasy. I'm located down in Annapolis though.

A new day, a new time zone.

I too am in Annapolis. I've been dropping my the Jennifer Square store every couple of weeks or so for a game, but I miss having a group of regular friends to game with. I'll be there tonight, hoping to pick up a BFG game.

Hi guys!

I'm in a similar situation, been out of the game about 7 years and just got back into it. I have a tau army that is well on its way to completion.

I found one dakka member on here and met up at the Glen Burnie Battle Bunker, but I'm also missing when I used to have a group of guys get together at a hobby store for games.

I'm at the southern edge of Baltimore but have friends in Annapolis and go down there sometimes. Maybe there's somewhere in between.

We should get together and do something dakka members tend to be cooler than the average pick-up game player imho...

My weekdays are mostly tied up but I'm always up for a weekend game if any of you are interested! I actually just played my first actual game in 7 years this past weekend, and it went well. I'd be up for a game this weekend too if any of you want to get together . Unfortunately I'll be out of town next weekend since it's the beginning of my wife's spring break for teaching.

Okay I'll check this thread and see what happens

I don't mind getting together to play some games during the weekends.

Let me know when/where you guys go and i'll try and make it!

There are several clubs that are associated with the Bunker and that area's stores.

First is the Baltimore Metro Gaming Club, which meets on Mondays. Dave Taylor used to be a major part of the club and was still showing up, but his family circumstances have changed, so I don't know how attendance will be for him.

The Inner Circle, run by Hill Billy Mike, I think meets on Fridays, and is more based out of Annapolis/Arundel Mills. I know they are having gaming this Sunday at the Bunker. You can stop by the Bunker and talk to Bill, Mike's brother if you want more info. I played in their round robin store tournament this past month and I had a blast....great group of guys. I should be there on Sunday, just ask for Keith if you want to meet.

On Thursdays is the War Council. This club seems to run more LOTR and WFB events then 40K. Again, it is at the Bunker.

For anyone in the DC-VA area, or willing to drive, there are the Ironfists and the DC Big Gunz. The fists have a bunch of great players, as do the DC Big Gunz. The head of the latter club regulary places in the top 10 at the GT's.

Finally, the last club is probably a dead on...the Bel Air Gaming Militia. I say its dead because their seems to be alot of player turnover going on, and not much interest keeping the club going. But who knows!

Wow! nice to see some local folks looking to game. Also nice to see I'm not the only one just getting back into it. I have three 4'x4' boards that can be used for tables, two of which connect to make a 4'x8' board. I also have some terrain. Unfortunately I also have three kids and not a lot of space lol. Weekends work best for me also, but I might be able to do a smaller game on a weeknight.

A new day, a new time zone.

I have space, a bit of terrain, but no gaming table. I am also a bit touchy about letting relative strangers into my domicile, so I'd want to get to know people before offering up my place.

Although like I said, I show up at the local GW semi-regularly.

Totally understand and agree. Maybe at some point we can all arrange a day to meet up at the bunker or someplace and just shoot the gak etc.

That sounds like the best idea to me Shellfishguy. I think it's a little less intimidating getting together with 3-5 guys someplace after setting it up, than to all crash another group that already has a bunch of regulars.

I've tried the Baltimore Metro Gaming Club at the Bunker, and got that impression- a lot of guys who know each other really well, and so I felt a little on the outside- especially not knowing the rules real well again yet. It'd be great to get together with a few of you guys who are also just getting back into the game.

Since there's so much space at the Bunker, maybe we could set up a day to meet there and have a friendly game or just get to know each other / show off models in progress / etc. In the future if somebody's got the space and we can meet somewhere closer to a midway point to Annapolis, we could do that, too.

If we just wanted to set a day to meet up and not necessarily play a game, I'd say a weeknight would work best at the Bunker. Weekends get a little crazy there

Just throwin' this out there- what about this Thursday? We could show up, bring our armies and compare where we're at, then set up another day to have a game there or elsewhere.

I could also swing Monday or Wednesday if Thursday is bad, I work on Tuesday and will be heading out of town on Friday, so those are out for me.

What do you guys think?

I tend to play at the GW in Lutherville. I'll see if I can make it out to the Bunker on Thursday.

I live in Laurel and this all sounds very familiar. I haven't played much in the last 2 years when I moved to this area. I have a table and terrain but like Bookwrack I am not quite ready to just fling my doors open. Anyway, I would definitely be up for a game. I collect Dark Angels (which I usually play as regular space marines), eldar, IG, and Daemonhunters.

I played one game with a guy at the GW at arundel mills and that was pretty good as a neutral spot for two players but 4-6 the bunker probably would be better. Unfortunately, he lost interest in the game so I haven't done anything since then.

RiTides Nids, that's exactly the kind of thing I was thinking. I should be able to make it on Thursday too.

ptlangley, I do the same thing with my marines. Paint as Dark Angels but have always just used the codex marine rules. Other than my termies, I'm a heretic I know, but I don't like the Deathwing colors. So I'm working on a black paint scheme for mine.

Awesome

What's a good time for Thursday? Is 6:00 too early? I've got something later in the evening I'd like to make if possible, so the earlier the better for me.

I'll bring my army since I've got a case for it, if anyone else who is trying to make it wants to bring theirs that'd be cool so we can see where everybody's at . But if you're coming from work, it might not be feasible.

Then we can just chill for a bit and get to know each other / compare progress / plan a day to meet up and have a game at the Bunker or elsewhere

Let me know what you guys think

A new day, a new time zone.

I'm going to be in PA on Thursday.

Also, how many people are actually in the Annapolis area, because for those people meeting at the Jennifer Square store would presumably be the most convenient.

That's true, although I think either the Bunker or the Arundel Mills store are more of a halfway point, and the Bunker's a Lot bigger

Not everybody has to be available on Thursday, maybe those who are can meet up and set up another time (hopefully for a weekend) where everyone is more likely to be able to make it?

Just thought it'd be good to go ahead and meet up if possible to get the ball rolling, that's all . I could make it down to Annapolis on a weekend (and maybe that's what we'll end up setting up), but for a weeknight that'd be a long round-trip!

Let me know what you guys think of the time if you are available for Thursday

Shellfishguy you are a step ahead of me... in spite of my good intentions I haven't actually gotten around to painting my DA. I am more of a collector and converter, but I am slowly working on painting. Thursday will probably work for me but I am not sure if I can get there by 6. I might bring a small army just in case.

If I can get my garage cleaned up I might be able support a game over here in the next few weeks (I am near Ft Meade).

Would sometime saturday work better for everyone? I've just started into a D&D campaign on Sunday afternoons, so Sat or maybe early sunday would work for me as weekend days go.

ptlangey - I'm only really ahead because of the DA green spray cans I had way back when lol. Realistically I have a predator and one Tac squad fully complete and others in many stages inbetween. I'm hoping this will light a fire under my butt to get the rest moving towards complete.

If you don't mind going out to Frederick, we have a pretty sizable base of players. The club has dedicated gaming space every Saturday and you can pick up games most other times. We also run a terrain/painting night on Tuesday. Feel free to check out the clubs website http://forums.failgamers.com/index.php or email me for additional info.

Same here Shellfish guy, I usually have work on Sundays so Saturday is better as far as weekends. Unfortunately I'll be out of town this weekend, but if you guys decide to go for Saturday I'll just join you next time.

Let's make sure something happens one way or the other, though We could do later on Thursday if that was better for everyone too, just didn't want to take up everybody's evenings

Well guys, I'll be at the Glen Burnie Battle Bunker at 6:00 on Thursday if any of you want to meet up

My name is Steve, I have curly hair, and I'll be sitting next to a large blue GW case.

Hope to see a few of you then!

Steve...my name is Sam...I'll try and make it on thurs at 6 with my army.

I started off this topic...so like I said, I havent played in years...so maybe we can get a game going so I can re-learn everything with one of the GW staff?

Great

I think so, they're pretty helpful about walking people through the rules to refresh (or start from scratch) their memory . I can also let you know what I've learned from the few games I've played and the (larger number) that I've watched

We can compare some figures, too, although I have to warn you, I Just traded armies (with a dakka member, no less!) so what appears to be great progress on my part is somewhat misleading . I, too, am hoping this will light a fire under me to get painting.

Hey guys, I'm going to try and make it. Unfortunately I have one kid down with a cold/flu/nurgle infestation so its a little dicey at this point. Oh, and I'm Eric.

I havent started painting again, but laying out what is close to being done, I'll have around 1000 points of marines ready to go once I do. I've gotten side tracked trying to convert up a Thunderfire cannon and a Master of the Forge with a conversion beamer.

It's looking like there should be 4 of us there:

RiTides Nids (Steve)
c5low13 (Sam)
Shellfishguy (Eric)
ptlangley (Tyler) (pm'ed him and he said he'll probably bring his army, too)
Valhallan42nd?

I can't stay too long, but I'll bring my army anyway . The Bunker allows any GW models, they don't have to be painted (at all or finished) to try out playing

c5low13 I can go over some of the basics with you while I'm there, and then maybe you can do a full game with one of the other guys . The few games I've played have been with people who are familiar with all the rules and they were prompting me, so I might not be the best rules teacher yet... but better than nothing and we can always ask one of the employees about anything we're not sure of.

Sounds good so hopefully I'll see several of you in-person tomorrow at the battle bunker . They close at 9 (not that you'll necessarily be staying that long) so there should be plenty of time for a full game if a few of you want to go for one

I'm in Crofton, 9 miles east of Annapolis and about 20 miles from Ellicott City. My son and I both play, but took some time off from the game. We have Tyranids, Chaos SM and Eldar. My wife has loaned out my 5x8 tables, but we're due to get them back, and could play at Jennifer square as well.

Hey all, RiTides(Steve) and I met up at the Bunker. We didn't try to get a game in. I think he is going to get everyone's email and try to coordinate another meeting. It would be great if we could get a group of at least 4 or more people that could meet up on some sort of a regular schedule that way we can play two 1on1 games and occasionally play a bigger game. We were thinking something on the order of 1k to start since we don't have a lot of experience with 5th edition. Anyway, look for something in your email.
