Hey party people!
This my first time finely posting on one of my favorite forums Dakka Dakka! I have ben reading alot of logs here tha last year and I love the forum and all the construktive discussion. Im realy looking forwart to seeing what people think of my work and how you all can help me in the development of my Necromunda gang! Pleas keep in mind that Necromunda is realy new for me so do not hessetate to tell me if Im doing some stuff wrong

I got really amped the other day when I saw the Chaos renegade militia models from Forgeworld, so I started figuring out a reason to buy them and a way of actually using them too!

I talked to some friends in my local gaming society and they explained that Necromunda was in alot of ways like Mordheim (I love Mordheim) and they would start a campaining during the summer. I then explained what the minis I wanted to use looked like and asked what gang would fit them best. We then spoke about Cawdor and Scavvies since they would probably do the models most justice. I finally decided to go for Scavvies because of the simple fact that I love Orc's Nurgel, anything dirty and raw The models will probably take about two weeks to get here so in the meantime to give my orc (currently kommandos(painting)) boyz some breathing space i decided to start assembling some Scavvie zombies and started thinking of how I would want my boss model to look like, where he originates from, what his goal is, what him and his gang's backstory is all about... I still don't have a clue haha!

Well I have said enough! Here are some zombies!

Im new to working with plastic card and tubes so im aplying alot of it to the bases.

Woot. More Necromunda/Skirmish!

The bases are looking really good, zombies are rather standard, but that's just from using what looks to be the standard GW kit.

Any plans for greenstuff? If you haven't used it, this would probably be a great project to start!

What sort of colors are you planning for them?

Oh and Welcome to Dakka ^_-. Hope you find it as great a place as we all do!

@grey_death: Thanks! Yes DakkaDakka is truly a great place and thank you for your input! Yes the zombies are kinda standard but the plastik kit alows them to have alot of character strait of the bat Well about the greenstuff... This is all rly WIP still but i have ben thinkin of aplying some. I just dont quite know where and what yet! But if you have any ideas Id be more than happy to hear them! Maby something that can work as a them for the rest of the gang?
I havent started thinking about colors yet but i want the them to be dark, raw and scary but not to close to Nurgle! So Im thinkin about leaving my beloved green paints out of this one

I really don't have any ideas for greenstuff past maybe some clothing additions to help pull them out of fantasy and into 40k some. But that's a bit 'advanced' in the ways of GS. Some additional gore and guts could be just what the doctor ordered though.

You can still get some green in there! Never leave an entire spectrum of paints out of the equation! Just don't make it a primary feature of the paint, use it to show some rotting spots here and there, or add a sickly hue to your other colors in the form of a wash. Still lots of places to use it!

Scavvies are definitely a good call for the renegade militia models - they have just the right scruffy, nasty, low tech look that you need.

Necromunda's a lot of fun, and if you liked Mordheim I'm fairly sure Necro won't disapoint.

Your first use of greenstuff may well be to fill some of the chaos detail on chestplates and other armour bits. You could also try using a bit of GS to model some dripping waste coming out of the pipe on the first zombies base - a nice bright toxic colour would add a nice spot of colour to your dark palette and help draw attention to the bases, which are looking very promising so far.

I particularly like the pose of the second zombie - something about the head choice and tilt to the shoulders and head give it the perfect shambling look.

Something else to consider is that if these are plague zombies, perhaps you can paint them to show signs of the plague that killed them, or even greenstuff some suitable buboes and boils to make them stand out from regular "raised from the dead" warhammer style zombies.

Good stuff - keep it up!

I love Necro/=I=munda logs and this is shaping up to be no exception.

Great start with the zombies, you have posed them well to get the most out of what (IMHO) can often end up looking like horrible mini's. You have actually made them look good though and now I'm tempted to pick some up for parts.

I would suggest adding some putty/GS/model filler to the shoulder joins, just the hide the obvious "ball and socket" join of the kit.

Aside from that, go to town on giving them 40k style clothing as Grey_Death suggested and maybe even add some more gribbly zombieness (eye hanging out, broken limbs etc) to the next couple.

What other conversions do you have planned for the group?

Also, love the bases, very nice!

Keep up the good work.

Cheers,

Dante

@ Anodyr: Im going to add som GS from the pipes... maby some tixoc waste stuff will go well as a theem for the bases since I read that Scavvies terretories alwais become "Scrofulous Wastes" because of there filty way of life... (In my band I will blame the Zombie plauge for this).
I will also try to hid all Chaos indikations as well as I can
Finely your idea to use some GS to indikate the plauge is a wicked one! I have to try that!

@CMDante: filling the joints is something I have ben thinking about but havent gotten to it yet I guess.. But now I will surly do so! I have more pics to come soon but right now i whant to work with all the rly great feedback I have gotten from yall

So thanks again dudes for the great ideas! more pic's soon to come.

Happy to help!

A really simple one to try is pustules/blisters. Take a tiny blob of GS and squash it onto your model so it forms a dome shape on its skin. Then take a pin or something with a similarly fine point and poke the centre of the dome to make a depression. Paint it orange, highlight yellow and give it a red wash so the depression looks red and bloody (not too heavy, just enough to give it some colour) and the jobs done! Repeat until you get bored.

A smal update!
I wanted to post this yesterday but due to all the great advice from yall I got stuck with some GS (Ill post that soon to)

I got another zombie almost done.. draging his broken legg down the sidecurb with a badass knife that I have no idea of how he got a hold of

Iv also started thinkin of cool weapons for my gang leader.. I dont whant his gear to be to fansy but still kind of unik so I found this cool handle and attached a orc chainsword to it:

I love the handle and it looks big enough for him to be able to use as a 2h if he wishes to!

I think the chainsword looks cool but shortly after aplying it I whas looking in the Scavvie rules and couldnt find chainswords in the armory so instead he will have to use a sword...
I do not whant the sword to look like a power sword but as I said before I still whant his gear to look unik and like something a veteran bountyhunter or something would be able to pick up. So after some time digging in my bitboxes I whent with the broken scythe blade I hade taken the handle from!

Thats all for now! I would love to hear some more input from all of you. Tell me if Im using the right aproach and if Im staying true to the world of Necromunda since this is all still really new for me!

I really like the zombies. They seem a lot more dynamic than normally portrayed. As for the weapon, I think that if you do use the blade option, remove the top bit, the thing attached by the cable. If the chainblade is used, I think it needs to be longer, but that could just be me.

Iv been thinking of a boss and this is what he looks like so far... Figured he might have gotten his hands on a realy old space marine helmet and chestpiece....

This is reeeeaaaaly WIP! I need to try different ideas etc. But I like the helmet so with some GS it will be usable(hopefully).
I got the base idea from another log here on DakkaDakka and I think it rocks! Cant remember what log right now but Ill eddit it in later.

This is all great work. I can see how much work and thought have been put in the constuction of each miniature. Your bases are brilliant pieces of work too.

Keep it up.

Hey dudes!
Hehe thanks migsula and thanks fore all the comments guys!
I have decided to skip the boss mini I started working on... I rly just don't like him and I can't se him working at all with the rest of the gang Maby I'll keep him for my next gang... Instead I have been looking for alternative minis the last days and have come across two models I like. I think they can work well and bring some attention from the other models.

*First up is the Witch Hunter Inquisitor (the one with the hat). After seeing it in Migsula's first Necromunda gang(AWSOME MODEL you rock, thanks for all the inspiration) http://www.pbase.com/migsula/image/57375433/original.jpg . But I'd have to buy the whole box just to get him right?
*And second is the Imperial Guard Vostroyan Officer with Power Sword.

He hase a cool pose and his gasmask helmet would work great with the renegade models(loseing the hat ofc). The good thing about him is that he comes bye himself so I won't need to buy a box of models I'd never use (never say never though;]).
Both models will need alot of converting but that's the fun part

The only question now is whitch I should use...

Thoughts??

But please If anyone of yall can think of any other model that you think I should checkout let me know!

You should take a look at the renegade ogryns from FW for a zombie like brute. The weapon arm looks really good- is it from Typhus?

Well nothing to post here exept some whining at Swedens GamesWorkshop store in Stockholm!
I whas there today only to findout that there selection nowadays is like based on only the realy basik stuff for 40k, fantasy and Lotr! They dont have ! I asked the dude in the store:
"Hi eeer... I cant find any Vostroyan models at all. Are they down in your storage? NO?! You only hade them in the store at the releas??"
Gah! I dont know maby Im over reakting but it just feels like my lokal store just keeps getting less and less verieaty in there assortment and its getting irritating. They have no models when it comes to "Specialist Games".
I asked my good friend today who worked in the store before and he sais that they only hade the Vostroyan models in the store for like 2-3 months and then they stoped the inport and they eaven sent some of the stuff back! The models in the store that sells the least gets caned back to London and I geuss I can understand that... but still I get irritated that everytime i go to the store to buy something i have to mailorder it and wait fore 2-3weeks.

Ill start painting the zombies instead till my Renegades from FW comes along. But atm there will take some time before there boss eaven arives

@jackinthetank: Hehe yea Im waiting fore one of them to dropp bye any day now thank you! yes it is from Typhus wich is kinda wierd sinc i dont have that model but I found the scythe in my bitbox Im gonna use it for my Boss to have it in one hand. But sinc it is like realy big Im gonna add a mutan arm for him to help him lift it!
