Subject: Testors Dull Coat, were to buy in the EU

Hi I hope this is the right place for the question above.
I was advised to use Testors Dull Coat to varnish my models. I currently have an old can of GW Matt Varnish which isn't really mat when sprayed on my miniatures.
However as far as I can tell Testors is a US brand and I can't find a webshop in Holland or the EU that sells this product. Shipping from US is a problem as well because spraycans have to be shipped with surface mail
So can anyone point me to a Dutch or European webstore that sells said product. Or point me to an alternative that is more readily available in the EU?

Not much help, but here is a uk-only supplier. Maybe you know someone in the UK who can order it then ship it to you?

Might be worth a try but I think that the reason they wont ship it outside the UK because of the airplane regulations.
I'll keep my eyes on this topic but I'll also start asking on Dutch modelling forums.

Hi Kagar
As pointed out in my PM if I remember correctly Testors Dull Cote was banned in the EU.
All UK stores will only delvier to the UK.
This has sometihng to do with a certain chemcial the Americans used in production. Apparnetly the chemical is banned in continental Europe.

Then it's probably back to GW varnishes for now then. :( But if someone knows an alternative that is readily available in mainland Europe I'll gladly hear it.

After some googling I came across the following information:
Testors Dullcote (spray) contains Toluene; which is now banned within the EU. As such the "traditional" Testors Dullcote Aerosol can not be legally sold anywhere within the EU.
Testors have today informed us that they are working on a new formulation of Dullcote (spray) but it may be another couple of months before it is done and able to be shipped out to the EU.
We will announce when we have the new formulation in stock and do some testing to see if it maintains is excellent matte abilities, until then it seems sensible to avoid buying the aerosol from any other sources, as anybody selling it will be breaking the law. However, given that it has taken us almost two months to find out why though it seems likely that other retailers are not aware of the situation.
This is however from a German forum post dating march 2008, I'm unsure if the alternative is allready available. This would of course clarify how hard this product is to obtain in Europe.

On a personal note I can add that I'm not that eager anymore to use this product, toluene is a nasty chemical and of course there is other stuff as that is just as nasty that we get exposed to but I'm going to look for an alternative.

I came across this german site which shows some alternatives:

I'm thinking about adding this to the article database because there will be more European painters who are looking for this product and have a hard time finding it.
