Iv been back panting for about a year and three quarters now, and was just wondering if my skills were up to scratch... And if there was anything I could do to make my results better.

I painted this terminator a few weeks ago, sorry about the crap picture quality, i still haven't gotten arround to fixing my good camera or buying a new one...

Take you time with stripes.
Uses masking solution if possible, but most importantly take your time.
Go back and touch up the joints.
Make the targeting lenses a contrasting color so they stand out (like the eyes).

Fire you camera gnome for not using the macro setting.
Let the new gnome know not to zoom in or use a software zoom.

I like the red.

What kind of basing do you plan for it?

for the basing i was gona go with a snow patern with a muddy feeling where the snow has melted kinda, like a late winter diorama sorta thing(u know the WWI and the WWII dioramas) kinda like that, but i haven't got my basing stuff back from my girl yet,

and i kinda missed out the targeting lenses on this one, thankyou for pointing that out, lol, im a dit dence at times... and the stripes, yeah, needs to be redone....

Looks great! The only thing I would say is why keep the helmet the same color? Of course, if you don't like how everybody has white helmets, that makes sense.

that is the exact reason they are the same colour as the body! cos other people have them diffrent colours, and anyway, yellow works better(aoart from the fact they arnt assult termies.. if they were i would make there helmates yellow as that fits in with the fluff)

To help with the stripes Tamia has masking tape that might help.

I like the stripy powerfist.

Looks good - nice depth. Just to reiterate - masking the stripes will make them look much better. I use cellotape (3M magic tape I think?) and cut it to the size and shape I want - gives crisp lines.

Make sure the stuff that shouldn't be so dark is re-touched-up (such as the black in the purity seal where the wash has settled).

Maybe another light highlight on top of the bones where the light would hit from above (white or bleached bone thinned an put over the highest points once or twice).

And drill the barrels of the gun if you can (bit hard to see, but it does look like it hasn't been done).

thats really good maybe you should touch up some parts on the model you have missed (the insides of his hoody thing over his head lol)unless you want the inside black and thats about it its better than mine lol

The only things I think it could do with are;

-More care on the black stripes. Do them as you do now, but go back with your smallest brush and finish the edges off.

-Extra, slightly lighter highlight stage on selective areas of armour, such as the cheek-ridges, tops of the knees etc. Maybe the corners of the butt-plate and back vents.

-Pure white highlights on the bone areas and scrollwork. Make sure to water it down 1:1.

Other than that, Brilliant effort!

more feedback would be apreciated if i do eventualy manage to get decent pictures... any hints btw? i havent got a manual focus camera, and the only one i have happens to have a nasty version of an auto focus that is badly selective at times....

As i said above there might be an update.... so here it is...
this is the 1st terminator with a few slight modifications to the painting, nothing major...


this is the second terminator. the chain fist isnt painted properly as it takes a few hours to do and i havent found adaquit time to paint it so far...

well after having a stupisly long break im finaly getting round to finishing this squad! its only took me what?a year and a half+? LOL

im a slow painter! anyway, i hope to fina a camera and update the whole progress tomorow if anyones still interested....

sadly in the year and a half my painting has gone quite downhill...

Snot Green is still around...its still as awesome as it always was, and now has a fancy foundation paint it can be applied over

Feth, I thought this was an uber-thread necro, but as it's the OP then all good. Don't worry mate, I've found that after a long break I'm a bit rusty but after an hour or two I'm better than ever. Keep at it!

Very impressive chevron-age. I think the red could be much more pure, it looks a bit pale.

All in all they are very presentable, but the color of the red and even the purity seals looks unfinished to me.
