Since the Imperial Guard book is almost out and much of the layout is known to us I’ve started to think about how to rework this for the new codex and edition.

Right now I’m just thinking about the layout and structure of the list rather than the specifics of unit entries probably starting with creating a Squat infantry platoon.

I’d appreciate any thoughts or ideas anyone has.

Thanks

I'm currently thinking of doing an option for just a single platoon of Squats as an add on force for an Imperial Guard force since you get quite a lot of stuff in an Imperial Guard platoon in the new book.

I like Squats as an Elite pick in Carapace. But with Storms now at 16 pts, ew.

Off-topic-Did you catch the Jervis quote on warseer?

Said something about the Squats are now gone forever but that the Demi-urg are the new dwarves. He said that the Squats didn't do the Dwarf archtype justice and that GW wouldn't bring back dwarves until they felt that they could both do them justice and have a good way of introducing the demi-urg as a new race.

God I'd love it if they brought dwarves back. I'd pre-order for the first time if they ever did.

On-topic- Have you seen Ollies Armies and his scrunts. Might get a few ideas there. Like what your thinking so far.

@JohnHwangDD: I’d be putting Exo-Armour in the Elite slot. Squats in carapace (Hearthguard) would fill the Hardened Veterans slot in the infantry platoons. If the rumoured Hardened Veterans stats are correct then I only need add my Squat statline and the option for Boltguns to them.

@Focusedfire: Yes I caught it on the epic forums where /Jervis originally wrote it. GW’s future for the Squats doesn’t really matter to me my fluff takes off from the ‘Tyranids ate them’ fluff.

Yeah I’ve seen the newer Bob Olley and Scrunt figures; I have a whole army of Citadel Squats so I don’t really need them.

*Bump* Finally had a crack at reworking this for 5th edition (it'll actually be easier than reworking my standard IG army).

So far I've only updated the rules for Command Squads, Infantry Platoons and Veteran Squads. Bikes, Exo-Armour and more to follow. I'd appreciate (almost) any thoughts you have on my work so far.

BTW: The previous version (for 4th Edition) is located here.
