Hey all!
Decided to toss up a blog following my hobby exploits, such as they are, while I am rotting here in the Desert again. Last tour I didn't get to get a whole lot of stuff done, we were really busy then. This tour is a lot less...exciting. I'm a Cav Scout in 1/7 Cavalry for the interested.
I brought with me a small selection of paints and models to get things going, and am having a box of other things sent over to me.
A few guys in my unit also play, and we might do a warbands campaign, or something similar too, that would be pretty nifty.
Anyway, here is a shot off the setup that I tossed together. I built up a small plywood table and laid my paints and other stuff that I have here out onto the top of it.
This tour, besides the college classes that I am taking and the prison yard weightlifting mentality that I am adopting, I am looking to hammer out a few thousand more points on my Black Templar, and try to crack the 10k points threshold. I am starting to work on a Pre-Heresy army too, based off of Sigismund's First Company, using Templar rules to rep it, and painting my Imperial Fists gold instead of yellow. I have done up a test model and I really like the way that it came out.
Going to tweek the scheme a bit and then start hammering away. Another thing that I am starting is I am going to sculpt up the models for the army. I want to sculpt and cast (for personal use only..don't sue me GW!) a body and head set for the Mks 2, 3, 4, and 5, and some other bits. I am looking to use products from Smooth-On to help me do it. Its ambitious I know but I have a lot of time on my hands.
Another thing is that as I sold off my Chaos Demons that I built a few years ago for Storm of Chaos, I have hammered out three lists for Fantasy armies that I want, a Nurgle Mortals list that I have most of the models for already, a Dwarf list, and a Empire list. They are all 2250 for tourneys, and have a theme to them that I want to convey across them. Dwarves are from Barak Varr so lots of blue and anchors and such, and the Empire I am doing an "expeditionary" army, so units from Nuln, some Flaggs, and state troops from Altdorf.
So lets get it going!
I'm starting off with a old OOP metal termie w/ thunderhammer (no shield, I getting some FW ones), and a RT era marine with PW. I'll post pics of progress soon!

i like the test mosel, but i don't really think that white goes with gold... but i may be wrong.
also, if you want to paint golt marines FAST-the get a paint spray, spray e'em gold, then spray on brown ink/wash. to add more detail, drubrush them afterwards with a gold colour.

Random! Good to see you are well!
Model is looking good, I would consider going with a more solid base color and washing it all with gryphonne sepia. I've really been championing this wash for a while now, and it does amazing things for golds. You can even base him in silver and wash it gold!
Glad you guys have some more down time this go around.
Be Safe.

Hey all!
Been a busy week, went to the IZ and Prosperity (those guys live rich) and walked some river bank, the usual.
But I have also been painting!
I finished off my Altdorf Empire army test model. I like the way that he came out. I am used to painting slightly bigger faces though, space marines and such, so when I did his eyes they were a little...big. I was going to change it until a friend of mine nicknamed him "Bug-Eyed McFranz" and it was pretty awesome, so I am going to leave him that way.
Another thing that I did on him is a new way, at least to me, to paint up golds. Using Aaron's (Grey Death) suggestion of going over silver for a better coverage and color (you mentioned this at the bitz swap a few months ago to me actually), I used the below recipe.
1. Gunmetal Metal
2. Wash Badab Black
3. Glorious Gold
4. Old Gold into the recesses
5. Slight mithril highlights
6. Heavy wash of Gryphonne Sepia
7. Watered down Thraka green wash
I use the thraka to help warm up the gold a touch. But I really really like the way that the golds came out on this model. I will be using the above recipe I think on my gold IFs that are upcoming too.
Over all I really like the way that the model looks, and can't wait to do the army. I dont know who I will do the bases yet. As I want it to be an "expeditionary" force, kinda like a QRF for the empire, always on the move, picking up Flaggelent (sp?) followers and borrowing regiments from cities it passes by (Nuln for my gunpower/arty troops, a Knightly Order called the Golden Lions from Chronicles, etc) I am kinda stuck on how I want to base them all. But as I am pretty heavily influenced by John Blanche, and JR Nielson just did a fantastic base tutorial in the feel of John's Knight Panther art from years ago (see the tutorial http://www.jrn-works.dk/ there) I think that I might dumb down his tutorial a bit, and get about the same results, if I am clever.
I am thinking abut building up some kind of Ghetto lightbox, so that I can maybe start taking some decent photos, I think that I could rig up something that would approximate the results from a nice one.
Oh, and work also continues on my two old Templar. Gonna hammer out the rest of the white/ivory on them tonight after mission. I did a slight highlight to hem after the pic was taken, around their shoulderpads with a little line of fiery orange, which I am going to wash down one more time before I gloss the pads in prep for the decals. Also working on their blades.
Question - How well do you all think Vallejo metal paints would be in the new GW spraygun? I am thinking for when i do my Fists, if I could get a nice even coverage of the Gunmetal and Glorious before I start working on the old gold and mithril highlights and washes it would save a lot of time. But I have not sued one, or any airbrush before, so I don't know if it would be worth it.
@ Aaron - Thanks for the tip bud! The silver base for gold is just the thing!
@ JD Hmm kick your mechs and make them work on your air con units. My 1151 almost puts out icicles after a new compressor, flow valve, and about 8lbs of freon!
Anyway, I will post up pics of the completed old guys here pretty quick. Next on my list is an assault squad and a converted chaplain to go with it! And more news is that my wife packed up my other modeling stuff (all my greenstuff supplies so I can start trying to sculpt my own heresy armors, more paints, and more models!). Things are cooking right along!

Everything is looking pretty good. Nice starts on it all.
Bug eyes are a bit of an issue on any model. Just thin them back out a bit with the flesh tone over the top of the eye (slightly cutting into the iris). Also the black base to the eyes you're using is a bit heavy and looks an awful like eyeliner ^_-...
Glad to see you've tried the silver base for gold. It's really one of the few things you can do to start rethinking how you paint your metals. But you already know most of what I would tell anyone else!
JRN is a great modeler and I have stolen his basing method as well. The first model I tried it on was my Chaplain for Battlefield Games Birth to Battle Painting Contest. It's a bit simplified (no flock, to grasses etc., just sand), but the build up was the same and it worked marvelously.
As for the Vallejo in the GW gun, I don't see it being an issue. But I haven't tried it. So feel free to experiment for us ^_-...
Keep it up and stay safe. Tell the FIST to stay on top of their game!

Modeling Points
Infantry – 1pt
Cavalry or Complex Infantry – 2pts
Characters – 5pts
Movement Trays – 3pts
Diorama Basing – 3pts (major character base, etc)
Walker – 10 Points
Tanks – 20pts
Major Items – 30pts (Baneblade, Pre-Heresy LR, etc)
Convert a model – 1pt (not just a gunswap, but actually changing the look/feel of a mini using bitz/cleverness)
Cast/Sculpt Minor Detail – 3pts (Cloak fur, purity seals, small skulls, eagles, etc)
Cast/Sculpt Major Detail – 5 pts (Faces, hands, major armor sections)
Cast/Sculpt Major Body Part – 7pts (Arms, Legs, Armor)
Learn new painting Technique – 10pts
To earn the points I will have to bring the models to completion, table top ready. Or as close as those models will be, like test models don’t have to be based, etc.
Some people allow themselves a dollar/pound for each point that they do. I am not so sure that I will do that. I might allow myself to see how much I can get done in a year, and give myself certain things if I hit certain number goals or something like that. Like a (new) old Reaver Titan, my 4th to own, but I have sold them all when money got tight, if I make 500pts.
I dunno, I ran across this in a blog, and I like it. Gives me something to aim for! I like to keep track of things like this.
So as I will be running this for the calendar year of 2009….
1 IF Test – 1pt
1 Altdorf test – 1pt
New Technique – Gold! – 10pts
And ole Franz's eye problems...yeah that is a one time thing, just not used to painting the empire faces yet. But I will try those techniques you guys mentioned! They sound good!

Hey all!
Finished up the old men that I was painting. The Sword Brethren wielding the Power Sword has been in my armies since around 2002, funny enough. I am sure that he fought across the tables of the old B&M Dakkadakka.
I really like the way that they came out.
WIP
Next on the block is a 5man assault squad and a Chappy that is already half done who will also be jump packed.
Oh, BTW, go read RealGenius's article up on The Painting Corp, I was suffering some "Mehs" myself, thats why its taken me a week to paint two marines. >.>
Go paint!

Subject: Re:Hobbying in the Sandbox - Random's on Deployment - Chaplain and Assault Initates
|
 |
Newbie Black Templar Neophyte

This week I have finished off my 5 Initiate Assault squad (I have 4 more to do in a bit) and the Chaplain with a jump pack as well.
The Chaplain has a few minor conversions, done literally 4 years ago when the new Emperor's Champion model came out. I built him but never finished him. Been a long trip for him! The Crozius is off of the Eisenhorn model from the Inquisitor range, back when we could bitz order. I think he came out well, though the conversion is rough in some places, I like it cause it shows that I have progressed since then, so I left him as is. He is just a fun model anyway, nothing serious.
The assault initiates you notice do not have any shoulderpads, and that is because I could only bring with me so much stuff when I came over here (I had a small pelican case of models and some paints stuffed in my travel duffels) but just today I got my box of bitz from my lovely wife, so I am in business! I will paint up them and toss them onto the models, but there is no real rush on that. I will do that up in a bit when I do the other 4 assault initates.
One thing that I am starting to explore is having personal heraldry on everyone. Not just litany and all like I have been doing before, but actual heraldry. Found a cool site http://www.puncher.co.uk/gen_herald.php that does a random heraldic shield. I am going ot start doing that on every Initiate from now on, on a knee pad or some such. The characters will have them on their shoulder pads, larger as befits their rank. Just some more stuff to practice with for my Pre-Heresy Fists, who will have some pretty serious heraldry across a lot of stuff.
The powerswords there are painted up with a new method that I am adopting, I forget where across the forums I found it, but it came to me based off of a inking demo done on either Dakka or B&C. To do....
1. Mithril Silver
2. 2 glazes of ink, choice of color (have done green and blue, doing to try purple next)
3. Light Badab Black glaze.
3. Highlight appropriately.
4. Thinned glaze of finish color.
5. Gloss varnish it.
I really like the way that it comes out. The blue sword is not really the best, but it was as I was figuring out if I liked it. The green came out great, in my opinion. I am going to do my Power Weapons like this from now on.
Also in that box of bitz was my sculpting stuff! I have a massive tube of green stuff now, so I can start practicing. You all will see all of that.
Other things in the works is I am going to toss some marauders together, generally mess around with the bitz that came in the mail.
And I need to figure out how to do a decent lightbox or something for while I am here....the pics are a bit rough.
-Eric
5 Assault Marines 5pts + 3pts for purity seals on the squad
1 Chaplain w/ Conversion and putty work (1) 9pts (for my self competition...)
New Method - Inked Power Weapons! - 10pts
^ For my keeping track of what I have done...see my reasoning on my blogger.

It's good to see you're still finding some time to get models finished! And great to hear your support system is in place for your addiction too! It's always good to have a little humanity in a place like that.
The squad is looking good, and the chappy is surely nice and happy to finally have a finished paint job!
How dare you link such a cool app though, I'll be messing with that thing for hours!

Hey guys!
Thanks for the comments, I personally really like how the assault squad came out, I just need to get my shoulder pads on them! But first I need primer, and the pads, which should be a few weeks to get to me. My wife is sending my last supplies and models box out on Monday.
And yeah Fattimus! Get those guys interested!
And yeah, that is good times, isn't it GD? I sat for like 45 minutes when I found it, and just clicked.
I am going to toss together a half dozen buildings out of pva, sand, and cardboard of various thickness, so that my mates and I can start Mordheim in the next month or so! You all will see pics of that. it will be super rough, but there is paint around, so I am going to give em a rough textured drybrushing and make it work, enough for us to play with our toy soldiers on! And I have been building up out of the bitz she sent to me some treasure chests and weapons piles and I also have one of Vects slave girls from back in the day, she will be a nice objective!
I just built up the first 5 marauders and 2 warriors for my Mordheim force. Going with the Marauders of Chaos list in the Border Town Burning supplement. One buddy is doing up some Treasure Hunter dwarves (which over the year he is going to expand to at least Warband sized so we can play that too), and another is going to get his stuff sent out to him, he plays HE, so some Shadow Warriors in MH. A couple other people have expressed interest as well! And I can talk people into rolling dice, so maybe some more people will start getting 10 or 20 models together for some wyrdstone hunting in the City of the Damned! Good times!
Ill include more pics of everything that I have built and whatnot in the next installment. Should be tomorrow!

This has been a bit of a slow week due to missions and whatnot.
I have spent most of my time digging around in my bitz and also working on getting a full Mordheim rulebook and Border Town Burning printed out. My buddies and I are going to get going on a campaign in the next month or so.
I am going to be playing a Marauders of Chaos list out of BtB, and have tossed together the rudiments of it out of what I have on hand in the bitzbox. They will be based in the future on some form of resin cobblestone base, so ignore the slotta bases, they will be going away.
Also found in the bitz was a promo Inquisitor, a Deamonette, a Dwarf Treasure Hunter from my old Dwarf Mordheim band, a Blood Bowl Nurgle beastmen who was separated from the rest of his team, a handful of treasure chests and such for MH, a rifleman I built for fun (and destined to be a test model for my Altdorf army's militia), a AoBR Ork Warboss that I want to paint up for fun using John Blanches Ork skin tutorial that was in WD a few month back. Oh, and last but not least, the Lovely Ladies...they are going to be done up and made into the best kind of objectives, haha. Actually, as I type this I just got an idea. I am going to sculpt up some pillows and the like for them to lay out on. Harem style. Good times in the City of the Damned!
Mordheim is going to be a good time. I am going to rig up some terrain in the next few weeks (expect pictures of that...its going to be...Iraqi special...but it will get the job done). And with at least 3 of us set on playing so far, and I think that I can get a few more people involved too, it is going to be just the thing.
Blood Bowl is my other project. I have 4 full sized teams with Big Guys, cheerleaders and mages and such (Chaos, Nurgle Rotters, Humans, and Chaos Dwarves) but no board/counters/dice. I am having all the teams sent out to me and I am going to try to find a board somewhere for less then the 70 bucks that they are going for on Ebay or GW, and set up a League for that. I will use my Rotters, but the Chaos and the Humans can be ringer/beginner teams. And I am sure that I can talk a few of the other guys into getting a team once they play a few games.
All this rolls into my last bit. My armies.
I have...
8,000pts of Black Templar, which I have to a RTT best painted standard. This is my single favorite all time army, and one that I will continue to build and paint and work on no matter what. I am going to finish painting all that I have for this over this deployment, and hopefully break the 10k points mark.
My Imperial Fists - I have started to work on some test sculpt projects for them. (Expect pics in a bit). But this is more a passion project. The army will be based off the current Templar book.
1000pts of Nurgle Chaos - Including heavily converted/ GS'ed models. But with the new book and the fact that EVERYONE is playing them, even though I want to I really can't enjoy them. That said I am probably going to keep working on them, for the same reason as my BT, they are my favorite fantasy guys, for their looks. Also, these models are all that remains after selling close to 3000 points of Nurgle Demons that I had back in the Storm of Chaos.
I REALLY want to do a couple of new armies. But I would really hate to be the "Johnny Come Lately" if you get me. I would love to have great big blocks of Warriors. Or a huge Vostroyan army, I have wanted to do them since those models came out, and figured that I would wait till the codex cause I would hate to build something and then have it obsoleted. But of course now IG seems like they are fleas on a dog if you get me. So really I am looking for some advice on what Army I should build next. I have not started any new armies in like 4 years.
I want to do two new armies, about a unit at a time. One 40k and one Fantasy. (My Fists being a passion/hobby project more then gaming, and like I said my Templar are a permanent thing).
Which armies do you see the most of out of the below...I would like to have a more unique army, in that not a lot of people play them.
Fantasy -
Empire - I love the models. Rules are cool.
Chaos - Again, models are awesome, and I could convert the hell out of things, and get opportunities to sculpt stuff and generally go nuts. But everyone has a chaos army. And no matter how nice it looks it becomes "Oh, ANOTHER chaos army..." when ever you go to put it on the board. And I have a lot of Chaos bits.
Dwarves - Models are smaller, so they would be "faster" to paint. I think that this is more what I am going to be doing, I do not see a lot of Dwarf armies. And I have painted stuff for them, well a unit anyway.
40k
Vostroyan IG - These models are right off of Blanches sketchbooks, to me anyway. I absolutely love them. And as I am 9 months from home, at this point, some of the "OMG new army...." will have worn off them. Maybe. And more of the new codex army builders will get bored and sell of the stuff they bought right off the block, giving access to cheaper Russ for conversions, etc.
Traitor Guard - Ripe conversion opportunities. Eventually GW will come to its senses and release a new L&D list, and if I keep things simple off the bat, tanks and infantry are easy to "counts as", so nothing should be obsoleted. And I have a lot of Chaos bits already.
Adeptus Mechanicus - Using the IG rules. I think that I would get the easiest to rep them. I have been looking a lot at the army Dave Taylor did a few years back. I think that it could be fun to hammer some out.
Orks - Even with them being in AoBR it does not seem that there are a lot of them floating around. This would be a bigger army...I am very much a horde kinda guy. So the AoBR boyz will come in handy. And I could use the above Vossy reasoning, in that there should soon be a glut of IG stuff people lose interest in on Ebay, for the Orky butchering and converting
So to recap...help me pick my next armies! I love the below ideas, but can't chose between them. What would YOU like to see across the table from you when you played me?
WHFB
Empire v Chaos v Dwarves
40k
Vostroyans v Ork v Ad Mech v Traitors
What do you all think?

When I was living in Florence, Italy for school, my roommate and I started playing Mordheim. Of course, we had only the stuff we could scrounge up, and no way of bringing anything large back with us, so we had some "Italian Special" terrain...I've included some pics to give you ideas.
Our version of Mordheim included card buildings from "Blood on the Streets", candy bars, shot glasses, flashlights, rocks, blister packs, and paint pots. Really forced us to use our imagination (and figure out what constituted 'ruins' for the skill 'Pit Fighter'!)

Nice dude!
My stuff is going to be right up the same alley. It is going to be low rent and easy to make.
The main ingredient is going to be cut up priority mail boxes and MRE boxes, for different thicknesses of board. The MRE box is thick and sturdy, so it will take paint well I think. The terrain with be painted using spray paint and whatever enamal paint that I can steal out from around our Mayor Cell area.
<--- The Mayor when he finds out some paint is missing.....
The main thing is that I want to make everything on its own base so that I can take a 4x4 plywood board, and cover it over with brown felt/cloth bought from the market (I saw a pillow maker in Rashidya market with some) and then have everything else able to be moved around and whatnot. Then I can toss everything into an empty drink cooler when not in use, and shove it under my bunk. The board can stand by the wall. Easy Peasy.
Also, a 4x4 will be good enough for Warbands/Skirmish when we move into that later this summer. Big enough to move around on, small enough for fast action.
I am also thinking of making some ghetto papermache to make things like sculpted walls and fountains and stuff with Iraq Now papers and lots of elmers glue. Which I have a lot of due to the fact that my wifes mother is an elementary school teacher. Jackpot!
Really everything will be free, easy to make, and throw away basically when I leave in Feb of next year.
Tomorrow I was going to go out and find items to make terrain with. Ill take my camera and doc it, and toss the pics up on here. Should be funny.
Oh, and everyone go put a vote in on my post HERE please.
I have talked my wife into signing off on two new armies for myself.....besides my Templar and my Fists. One Fantasy and one 40k, tournament sized, so 2250 Fantasy and 1850 40k. I have a bunch of different ideas and would love to do any of them.
My wife loves the look of the Dwarves, she bought me a unit that I painted up and she says is her favorite models that I have ever done. So I am leaning to them personally to keep her happy, and that is what she voted for when I had her get on from her end in Texas and vote. But I REALLY love the Empire too. Nifty looking new models and blocks of stalwart humans holding the line!
But really I am looking at it as what would YOU want to play when I put my army down on the table. I win by getting new toy soldiers, and my opponents win because none of them wear powered armor/chaos armor/made from warp goo. So go vote, would ya!?
Also, you will get to follow my progress here in the blog, for those that like to follow my hobby insanity here in Iraq (and eventually the real world when I leave this gak hole)

Thanks for the info from the poll guys! I bunch of you voted and you didn't make it easy did 'ya?
My two new armies, that I am going to start working on here basically tomorrow, will be.....
40k: Adeptus Mechanicus force using the new IG book.
WHFB: Dwarfs of Barak Varr.
The wife is pleased about the Dwarves I might add. Which is good as it keeps the hobby in her good graces. You all know the fine line we walk with our model shenanigans with the significant other....
No real modeling work has been done in the past week, been busy getting stuff together to make the aforementioned terrain for Mordheim, and waiting to see what the poll would come out to be. But I am really excited about the poll outcome. I get new toy soldiers, and they will not be "normal" armies that you see a majority of the time. And both are passion projects of mine.
I will post up some more ideas that I have about the Ad Mech here in a bit, I have the IG codex already (yeah preorder, even in Iraq!) and I have already started the gears to rolling and ideas are flowing really well! The muse is on me!
Oh, and a buddy of mine brought the Skull Pass box set with him, and decided that he didn't want anything to do with fantasy after all. So I have traded him a Captain that I had laying around with as nice a paint job as I can muster for the Dwarves that are in that boxset. And I am going to get the orcs from him as well for mordheim/warband ringer forces. So good times on that!
So...expect within a week a completed Crimson Fist character, (told him 7 days for the model), the start of some Ad Mech ideas, and some dwarves. Plus some terrain startings. Going to be a busy week! But I have no more excuses to not get working anymore, missions are short, and guard is only once every three days (and as an NCO I only pull a short shift...).
PPC: Hey bro! Good to talk to you again! I stumbled across your blog a few days ago, and added it to my reading list, your stuff looks fantastic as always.

Whew, been off a bit! Internet issues and patrols and such got in the way.
Good to go now though, so here are a couple of quick shots of what I have been up to!
The Templar I was doing are done except for heraldry, decals, and highlighting.
The Dwarves have been started! It only took me 2hrs to get it to details (I do base coats, washes, and second/third coats, then onto details and final washes). Super easy! I want to get the entire Skrong for Mordheim done in 30 days, which I believe is easily doable. I should finish these in the next day or two work permitting.
I have also been working on my GS shield bosses, and banner runic items. I will post pics of those in a few days.
Anyway, good to be back after a few weeks!

Hey a dude with a crest. Good. I always like choppin' the beaks off and making them look sort of like knight era bucket helms. Definitely need to use heraldry, makes them more exciting and cool to look at. The golds look sort of flat, have you tried using a very thin wash of Purple followed by something along the lines of a GW bestial brown wash, followed by Vallejo smoke? On the washes I use something like 10 parts water to 1 part paint, super thin, allow to dry and wash again, get the recessed areas some depth.
I tried doing some GW plastic dwarves awhile back, but I just did not care for the models all that much. Personal preference. I do like the paint on your dwarves, so far. A little Vallejo Smoke will do wonders on the chainmail and metals, to give some extra depth.
Keep it up bud.

Hey all!
This week has been fulled with Dwarves mostly. I am finished with my starting warband, and am now working on the rest of it. But I can put onto the plywood/cardboard field of battle a fully painted and ready to go starting Dwarf Treasure Hunters Warband.
So this is what I have done this week broken down by subject...
ADEPTUS MECHANICUS
Planning work continues. I was going to grab some bitz for at least a handful of Hypaspists for planning and test purposes, but that was pushed back till the 1st, and my next shot of “Me Money”. But that is all good, lets me plan a little more, and work on my fluff. I am getting some Bret Men-At-Arms bodies, and some High Elves Legs/Cadian Torsos combos. Hoff and Taylor pattern Hypaspists, as it were. I am also looking to get some Vostroyan troopers and try out my Walker Pattern Myrmidons (Counts as Storm Troopers/Veterens).
Fluff side:
My Ad Mech are from Forgeworld Phaeton, in the Segmentum Solar. I chose Phaeton as I am a Volkswagen obsessive, owning a Passat, and parts for a ’68 Bug (my Volksrod project). I will be buying me real Phaeton in a few years (when it is my turn for a new car, the Wife is up next, and depreciation is good, for me at least!) as a funny aside, they have become quite affordable comparatively. Anyway my rambling on cars is for my automotive blog elsewhere. Back to Toy Soldiers.
I am outlining a whole ton of things that I want to have a go at sculpting and then resin casting. Like mechanindrites, drills of different sizes, different sized AM seals, etc. Maybe a set of ready to go robed legs, servitor torsos, that kind of thing as my sculpting gets better as I go.
So to sum up! Bitz order is going out for Test Models on the 1st. I should have up painted test models by the end of the month. Build tests for sure at the very least.
DWARVES
Finished the starter Warband, as seen below, with some WIPs tossed in as well.
I start painting by doing all basecoats, washes, and then 2nd basecoats (metals mostly). Then I wash again, and then go on to details, and highlights.
Greenstuff work has been continuing, as seen in the pics below. Working on shield bosses, banner stuff, that kind of thing. Pretty easy stuff.
I have done two sizes of my Seagate emblem (the triangle thing with squiggles under it) a casting of the fish that started the whole Barak Varr idea, an ancestor boss, and a small battleship. I want to do some scales (ie merchant scales) and maybe an anchor too. All good themes for BV.
The two characters in the picture will be getting some BV themed shield bosses, just have to finish sculpting them, GS cast them, and then put them on.
On the main army front, I have gotten my first boxes for them, via the Warstore GC for my birthday. So I have a box of warriors destined to become Longbeards w/ HW, and a cannon/organ gun that when I build it I will magnetize it so that I can swap barrels.
I have had thoughts of resin basing these guys, and I have been growning on Iron Halo bases which I came across on BoLS, which is good for me cause I was really waffling on what I wanted, and these have hit the spot. Affordable to! The guys at BoLS are really taken with them. I will certainly use some of their stuff for my Ad Mech.
Vahalla bases from Iron Halo

MORDHHEIM
As the pic here shows, I have boxes, pringle tubes, and styrofoam. Now to start making buildings! Going to do that this week. The scissors there I got out in sector. I was thinking how I need a pair, and then suddenly (no lie) this kid comes walking past me with them in his hand. Some sharp dealing later I have a pair of scissors, and the kid has 4 bags of chips, 2 gatoraids, and some gum. It was good times.
Oh, and here is a shot of the lovely ladies. The best kind of prize in the hellish cityscape of Mordheim!
BLOODBOWL
I am still going to start this up, maybe in a month or so. But if anyone has a Orc or a Dwarf team that they want to donate to my friends and I out here (I have a human and two chaos teams) help out the troops hey?
But I will make a pitch and all for us to do that. And I will start to paint up the teams and all of that soonish.
Sand Bowl 2009 is coming this Fall!
SANDBOX HOBBYING
A quick shot of my ghetto lightbox. It is sort of working, I have to work on learning to play with the pic levels and stuff more, but I am getting it slowly. So photography on this should get better as it goes along!
So that is that! I will have more Dwarves painted this week. I will work on the buildings for MH. I will also prime a bunch of stuff. Going to be a good week!
@PPC - I use a light wash of green to help warm it up, and give it a little depth. My photo skills are poor, and still progressing. I have to take the "better in RL" bow here. >.>
