Anyone else notice that 5 months after the Baltimore GT, that no one doing the 40K ArmyBuilder files has corrected the Drop Pod error that gives you free Deathwind Launchers????

I hope tournament organizers are catching that!

My copy of AB3 charges you 20pts for this 'free' deathwind launcher.

Did you get the last update for SM? November last year?

It fixed quite a few errors. Like twin-linked plasma cannons on dreads.

Try going to the AB40k maintainers site and posting problems there. It's more effective.

This is why I will never buy army builder.... Why pay $40 for a gakky GUI, in the hopes that some third party will make a data sheet for it.

If you want I have a binder to sell for a mere 39.99, all you have to do is find a kind hearted third party to fill it with every codex! PM me if interested!

Because even with the odd error it's STILL more accurate than most people when it comes to building a force, and enforcing the rules? When there is a bug they quickly respond, and either fix it, or explain why their approach is right. I think the AB maintainers are doing an incredible job.

I'm not seeing the error; it's charging me for the Deathwind Launcher.

Both points are valid. I stopped using Army builder at version 2.. I just couldnt' see paying the extra cost to print up a few documents. Now in version 1, I was doing it all the time. I suppose, depending on how often you change lists or somesuch like that, it might be worth it. As for me, I'd just like to see Gw do their own official army builder type, actually support it and sell it as a reasonable price of around 20 dollars.. (I can wish right?)

Have you reported the 'error' to the maintainer's website?

http://www.ab40k.org/

And using the latest datafiles, it does charge you for the Deathwind Launcher.

GW has put out 2 or 3 army builder type programs. They've all gone completely unsupported and died a slow torturous death.

I will personally mock anyone who buys their next attempt.

Oh the printing is another huge bonus! Once again you COULD do this yourself, but they add so much with all the unit stats right there in the print out. If I did it by hand it would be more like
Unit.....xx
Unit.....xx
Total...xx

I can understand people making comments about not wanting to spend the money, but the claims that it's often wrong I find odd. Usually it's somebody who used it once, for something completely new, failed to file a bug report, and then complained. Ie they didn't want it in the first place, and set it up to fail. Now they're blowing up their own importance from "Geez, I showed up this commercial program, I'm da s**t". I've been using it for years, and I've yet to find a real bug. Some cosmetic issues here and there, things I would do different, but the final report is always right. That's far more than I can say for a lot of people's hand written lists. Far to easy to have some sort of brain fart.

Learn to edit the datafiles yourself. The maintainers do an adequate job, but they're remarkably stubborn when it comes to some things. Last year they absolutely refused to allow shoota boyz to take PK nob, when it was obvious to most English speakers that this was legal via RAW. They only fixed this after the FAQ (NOT errata) came out, too late for Adepticon.

However, that's the maintaners, and not the tool. If you have access to AB, you have access to ABCreator, and it's not rocket science. Especially with how modern codexes are written (fewer choices, and all choices encompassed within a unit's options), you can write your own datafile in about an afternoon if you put your mind to it.

Wow, this is bizarre. I went and downloaded the latest 40K update, thinking maybe I missed it...

Nope, still not charging me for deathwinds.

Can I say "error 18-24" or would that be rude?

Maybe it's an ID-10T Error.

A new day, a new time zone.

I think that's going a little far. 'Problem exists between chair and keyboard' is more charitable, since there are myriad common errors that could be interfering with the update working.

You ARE using the 40k 5th Edition (as opposed to the 40k 4th Edition) data file, right?

I can learn a Codex by heart in an afternoon. Sounds like a better use of my time than learning to edit datafiles

But you are not the one that is having AB give you free DW Launchers.

I sell the binders for only $19.95 (plus an unreasonable shipping & handling fee). Back in the Rogue Trader days, we did have to use binders between all of the Chapter Approved stuff and the quality bindings GW used then.
