The amount of auctions on ebay that are labelled "pro painted" only to be clicked on and found that they look like they've been painted by someone who was extremely drunk?

I've always posted mine as 'painted to a good wargaming standard'. Seems to cover it all then...

Well if some one from say a battle bunker (or any one who really sells warhammer) painted a model, regardless of how shity it is. It can still be considerd a professional model. That is of course only because he gets paid for selling minis as it is his profession.
But no I totally agree with you even though id never buy a painted mini on ebay and not strip it.

I wouldn't buy a painted model if i wasn't going to strip/repaint either, i just click on the pro painted ones sometimes to see other peoples work and usually find, for example a stormtrooper painted in nothing but basecolours, not shading, highlighting or anything with a face similar in appearance to Tony Blair.

Define 'Pro Painted'. All my auctions are listed as Pro Painted, but then that's what I'm doing, painting models up to sell for money. Should you decide that the model is not Pro painted enough to your standard, then thats your entitlement and you don't buy it.
Take a Premiership footballer and a 3rd Division Player, bith proffessional, both get paid, but ones better than the other and therefore atracks a higher salary.
Same with painted models. Mine are not Golden Deamon Standard, but a highstandard. Either way I'm painting them for money, people pay me the value they think they are. That makes it a proffession.

I see what your saying TheSecretSquig, but you know in your mind that your standard of painting is far above what the majority of your average painters can achieve, some of the 'pro painted' stuff is of such a poor standard that you would have to have a serious amount of self belief to actually believe its 'pro', they should have an x-factor for painting just so simon cowell can tell people they're really not as pro as they think.

No 'e' in ridiculous. Just sayin'...
"Pro-painted" is old hat now. Pro-painted could mean "plain old painted" now. Because of the deluge of ungodly gakky "pro-painted" models, people have now moved on to "MASTER painted."
Master Painted is the new Pro Painted.
