Hi all,

It's been a while since I last visited these forums. In fact it was way back when 3rd ed. was first released which makes it a 5-6 years now if memory serves.

After stumbling upon the Genestealer Cults v2.0 minidex over at BellOfLostSouls, I've been playing with the idea of picking up this hobby again. Recently some of my friends started playing the game again so I have decided to have a go at it.

Could anyone comment on the strengths and weaknesses of the Genestealer Cult army and perhaps give some general directions on how to approach the opponent?

I have put together a small (750pts) army using this minidex here.

Cheers!

It is easier for people to give you advice on standard armies.

A member of Dakka created a beautiful genestealer cult army using ork rules that was very interesting. You should check it out. Just search Genestealer cult in the Articles section.

The Genestealer Cult armylist from BoLS is great fun, and makes for very characterful forces. It works best in pretty small and friendly fights, and is great fun to create special scenarios around. In a more competitive setting the list unfortunately suffers because it has very few things that is dangerous to tanks, and most models cost a lot for what you get, compared to other horde armies.

If you want to play outside of friends and family, try using another armylist. Orcs and imperial guard are common, I usually use the tyranid list, and I have tried the BoLS-list a little.

I will leave some hopefully clever feedback on your army at that post.

Welcome to the purple side ;-)
