Subject: BattleTech wins April Fool's Day...

April 1st is a good time to play jokes on people. Some comapnies do this yearly, with this year's Pimp my Mount expansion for WoW, Terra-Tron Transformer for Starcraft III and Archivist Class for Diablo III being some of the nice ones.
But Catalyst Game Labs, makers of the venerable BattleTech and Shadowrun systems, have topped everyone. They've invented a new game called BattleRun as their April Fool's joke. And it's not some phony press-release and a few mock-up preview pages of a fake rulebook - this is a real publication. It's a 50-page PDF rulebook, and it's going to print.
Oddly enough, this is par for the course for Catalyst. A few years back they released a First-Person Shooter-esque list of 'Power Ups' for BTech games. It was funny, and the rules were cool if stupid. Well... they made an errata for their April Fool's joke. Apparently, other than the rules themselves, April Fool's Jokes at Catalyst are no laughing manner.
So go on, have a look at BattleRun, where Orks can fight 'Mechs, and there's a character class called the ' TOTALLY AWESOME IMMORTAL ELF'.

That is good, but I think Google's CADIE thing this year was very well done, and someone put in a lot of work there.

The Battletech people usually come up with good stuff.
Back when FASA was still alive and kickin' they released a "preview" where the Minnesota tribe showed up and started kicking the Clans around on their homeworlds, complete with stats for a new 150-ton super assault mech.

Actually the Orca was 200 tons. However the very real Dark Ages Colossal-class 'mechs weigh in at 125 to 135 tons.
