Well as the hobby shop I order from doesn't have very much Warhammer and 40k models in,I thought of dabbling in Iron kingdoms.I was just wondering if anyone else plays it and is it like a full scale wargame or more,like Talisman or D&D.

From the wikipedia: The Iron Kingdoms is a campaign setting for the d20 fantasy RPG system and set in the same fictional world as the WARMACHINE miniatures wargame.
Warmachine and Hordes are closer to 40k/fantasy, where you'll have between 15-50 models on one side for an average game. It sounds like the Iron Kingdoms books are more along the lines of sourcebooks for D&D though.

Yup. IK is the RPG side of Warmachine. It's a bit like WHFB/WHFRP in that they both sow the same 'world' but from a different enough point of view that it can feel very different.
If you're looking for a game to try the best bet might be to jsut hang out and see what other local gamers play.
