so i sold my tyranids, i rarely played them. in selling my tyranids i let go of a FW hierophant and barbed heirdule (not actually sold yet, but they are spoken for). and i want to replace them with some FW for my remaining armies. orks and chaos. orks are out already, they already have an armorcast GG, 2 stompas, 2 looted SHT's and a skullhamma.

so i want to get something for chaos and its most likely going to be a pair of warhound titans. IMO warhounds should always be fielded in at least pairs, thats how they are depicted in the fluff and thats how i run them in epic.

so, im set, i want 2 warhounds. i have (will have) the funds to get them soon.

BUT

in a perfect world i want to make them legio mortis. the FW chaos warhound looks great, but the single weapon loadout doesnt do it for me. i would prefer inferno cannon and laser destructor.

so, do i grab the chaos ones and deal with it or do i pick up 2 imperial warhounds and convert them to chaos?

im really on the fence here and im looking for some good advice.

I think it all depends on how much work you want to do on an already time-consumptive model.

If you don't think you'll feel 100% up to converting them during/after construction, get the Chaos Warhound and deal with the "sub-optimal" weapons.

If you do, get the Lucius Patterns and the weapon sets you want. Also, remember that a paint job, some Spiky Bits, and some Etched Brass can go a long way sometimes.

im thinking of that option. i figure i can grab 2 lucius pattern titans, shave the imperial icons, and pick up some of the chaos renegade etched brass to help the conversions.

There was talk at the FW open day about selling the bodies and weapons for the warhounds seperately (like what they've just done with the reaver) so hold fire until they do that, buy the chaos titan then the imperial weaps, and just convert the weapons. Problem solved (Although i'm not sure if they'll do this with the chaosand the mars yet due to a lack of weapo options available, fingers crossed eh?)

i need to call FW on that one. it makes sense to sell ind. weapons, but then again it is a GW company so whatever on that.

I agree with Sirius about the individual weapons thing; I kind of remember reading recently that they were moving to a system of that sort.

So just wait till Games Day and ask them what their plans are.

If you are REALLY in a hurry, get the Imperial version and Nurgle it up. It isn't as though you have ever been hard pressed to do a conversion before Hell, I might even be convinced to help you out

Only problem with this option is that apparently the joins on the Mars(and thus the Chaos) and the Lucius patterns are different due to the Mars titan weapons being "Handed"(ie, meant for a certain side of the titan) and the Lucius weapons not. I've heard that arms are not compatible between the two types without some work.

From the FW Open Day:

"Mars Pattern Warhound they want to do, but because the weapons need to be resculpted to remove their 'handedness', it won't neccessarily be soon."

the work to cross over an imperial to a chaos titan will be mammoth for what i want to do. im prolly gonna just get the chaos warhounds and make my own weapons until they release a tyerbo laser and inferno cannon for the chaos warhounds.

the work on the chaos reaver makes me wanna save money to get that as well. i cant get a reaver until i have 2 warhounds anyways.
