Hey
Just in case anyone's interested, a Cadian to Praetorian conversion pack for basic troops and rough riders should be being cast soon by a small private group of hobbyists soon. It's non profit, and I doubt there'll be more than one run. I'm not too sure if this breaks forum rules or not, so i won't post a link. If you want to know where to get them, give me a PM.
Here are some images of what should be available.

Non-profit? Where does our money go, eh?

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

It covers the cost of the casting. Models don't make themselves for free. The group is a bunch of dedicated hobbyists worldwide who take the time out to sculpt, and produce the models themselves, and it's not too unreasonable for you to actually PAY the cost of producing and mailing the models you order now, is it?
I'm just another consumer anyway, I just send in my money to get what I want like everyone else.

Here's some other stuff they did.
A Cadian Moa bird rough rider kit.
Bionic cadian arms and legs for Skitarii armies. There were also some heads and bodies.
Female Guard
GW is aware of them, but because it's strictly small scale one off production runs by dedicated fans for no profit, they don't mind.

Actually, you're correct on the female Guard. They had a second run due to demand. I take it you're familiar with the group then?

Didn't "Dr.Thunder"? champion this cause a while back? I seem to remember the ostrich. Either way color me interested.

I heart SYR 8766
For all your bravado, if the US Army decided to invade, Wisconsin is it?, in force supported by a heavy bombing campaign for the month before, weeks of shelling from battleships on Lake Superior, and a full tank thrust (crushing the cows beneath the treads), I don't think that your .22 is going to make much of a difference really... At some point these sorts of decision-making skills lump you into the same camp as the Lehman Brothers, the White Star Line shipping company, and mothers who smoke during pregnancy. ---Sour Clams |

You are correct. I was interested until I saw the fem guard. The difference between the sculpt and the concept art was so big you could drive optimus prime through. The bird is "meh" and the bionic bits leave something to be desired. That said, the praetorian stuff looks ok, but the best part about praetorians are their hats, and I don't see those in this pack?

Only through dakka.. the models look pretty cool though, I was just thinking that someone else championed the models before, I guess I was correct in that thinking.. either way, thanks for bringing it to our attention. Lot's of IG players will find these at least interesting, especially with the near release of the new IG book.

I've got the moa riders, and they're pretty nice in person. Haven't assembled them yet, though. Quality is good, no miscast parts or anything.

Aye, DrThunder is one of the leading members of the group.
They're actually working on female jungle fighters right now. I can't say I personally like the female range they do myself, but I can understand why some people would.
If you're familiar with him, Col. Gravis was sculpting a full set, but apparantly dropped out early, so only the components already completed are being put up for casting. However, heads wise, these are the ones being bandied about as replacements.
http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/2008/09/08/16894
I think I've seen these heads shown on Dakka before. There's also the ones from the Wargames Factory plastic kit. So if you buy a few packs of heads from either of these sources, all you need are cadian legs and lasguns to complete them. Rather than spending large sums on metal Praetorians, and endless hours with green stuff, I can safely say I'd prefer to just order a large quantity of these . But I guess if you prefer the modelling aspect, these aren't so hot.
Either way, I'm digging my praetorians out for the new Guard codex. As I type this, I'm integrating a steam tank 5 from that victorian sci-fi range with a chimera. Looks prety nifty, I must say.
