Ulthwe Black Storm Guardian Squad with a Warlock and Enhance power. Toss them in a wave serpent with twin link scatter lasers, spirit stones. Could even drop one of the guardians and throw in a Farseer with Doom and Fortune.

You'll end up with a 11 man storm guardian squad each with 5 WS 5 I, and the warlock with the same stats.

This whole setup could go for only 228 points. I think they could out preform a lot of other squads per cost.

Has anyone ever tried this?

Storm Guardians are no good in close combat. You can buff their WS and I to 10 for all I care, they still hit like Guardsmen, and we all know how well they do in close combat.

The most common Storm Guardian setup is 10 + Warlock with Destructor and two Flamers in a Wave Serpent. Tank Shock, disembark and burn.

I have had great success with a build like this. I use squads of 20 tho VS 20 hormies or orks and won, however psychic support is recommend.

Think about it in effeciency terms. 20 guardains are making the most of the enhance power & you are getting WS4 (Not ws 5) & I5 troops for 9.75pts/model, roughly. Thats not too shabby but they are only W1 T3 STR3 troops in the end so en-mass would be adviseable.

With transported guards flamers are best because when it comes to fusion guns, dragons rule supreme. But flamers + warlock destructor = a large amount of quickly deployable flamer death.

Star engines, after a triple template whammy, in the shooting phase to tank-shock unit away from the guardain squad can also help prevent count charges & help shield guardains from return fire. Obviously this costs you the chance to fire whatever armements the serpent has so its a tradeoff.

I prefer using the flamers + destructor build in a tank shocking waver serpent. I've had a lot of success with it. People I have come across are amazed every time I decimate a squad with them.

Storm Guardians do not assault, they use flamers. The fact that they are modelled with pistols and CC weapons is only to enhance their cool factor.

Black Guardians get a bonus of one to either WS or BS, unless they are no longer supported.

That is how I got to 5 with the combination of enhance.

Storms should only be in combat to back up another dedicated assault unit, like shees.

Id use them 2x flamer and destructor lock, in a serpent.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

The Warlock is a good fit in a Wraith list.
