Subject: Proposed Apoc rules for the Primarch Leman Russ
|
 |
Wolf Guard Bodyguard in Terminator Armor
|
I recently purchased the Odin Knight model that bears a striking resemblence to a special primarch that we all know and love, so ive spent the better part of today at work writing this up, please feel free to leave C&C
Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves
0-1 Primarch
A Space Marine army may include one Primarch as an HQ choice. Primarchs can only be used in games of 2500 points or more and costs respectively as listed on their own list. Each Space Marine army can only take their own chapter's Primarch. A Primarch is an independent character
Leman Russ: 700 points
Unit composition: 1 Leman Russ, 2 Giant Fenrisian Wolves
WS 7 BS 5 S 6 (8)(9) T 6 W 5 I 6 (7) A5 Ld 10 Sv 2+/4+
Wargear: Blessed thrice artificer armor (2+ armor save), Legendary Frost blade “Mjalnar” (Power weapon, +2S, can reroll all failed to hit rolls), Master Crafted bolt pistol, Belt of Russ (4+ Invulnerable save), Wolf Pelt (+1 A when counter-charging), Wolf tooth necklace (Always hit on a 3+ in close combat), Frag grenades
Special Rules:
- ) Primarch: Any friendly unit with LOS to at least one Primarch may choose to pass or fail any Morale Check. Space Marines from the Primarch’s Legion can choose to pass or fail whether they have LOS or not as long as he is alive.
- ) Eternal Warrior
- ) Space Wolves: All Space Wolves special rules, such as counter attack and acute senses (as written in SW codex), apply to Leman Russ.
- ) Enraged: When Russ is on his last wound, he gains +1 A, and he must always use sweeping advance (whenever possible) after winning close combat. Russ and the unit he is with also become fearless and can no longer choose to fail any leadership based test.
- ) Howl of the Great Wolf: Once per game, Russ can use the Howl during the close combat phase (this may be done on the opponents turn). All Space Wolves within 18", including Russ and his Wolves, go into frenzy and get +D3 A each for that combat phase only (roll for each unit separately).
- ) Berserk Charge: Russ and the unit he is with get +2 A for charging instead of 1. (Works with counter-charge also)
- ) Furious Charge: Russ and the unit he is with get +1 S and +1 I on the turn they charge. (Works with counter-charge also)
- ) Hard to kill: Russ is well known to have regeneration powers, and is incredibly stubborn, at the end of the players turn after Russ loses his last wound make a leadership test on his unmodified leadership of 10, if he passes, he gets back up with 1 wound remaining.
- ) Jotunblod: Leman Russ is a giant of a man, stout and incredibly strong. He rolls 2d6 for armor penetration rolls in close combat. Russ also counts as wearing terminator armor for calculating transport capacity. To represent this, Russ should be modeled on a 40mm base.
Freki and Geri: Giant Fenrisian Wolves (stats below, no extra point cost). The Wolves stay within 2 inches of Russ, attacking any unit in base to base with him.
WS 5 BS 0 S 4(5) T 4 W 1 I 4(5) A 2 Ld 8 Sv 5+
- ) Wild Scouts: Freki and Geri grant Move Through cover special Rule to Russ and any unit he has joined, which grants them 3 D6 rolls when entering difficult and they may pick the highest roll on one dice and ignore the other rolls. The giant wolves lead the way, which makes it safer and faster to go through difficult terrain. Also in close combat the whole unit attacks without the cover initiative penalty when charging into enemies inside cover as the wolves can smell the targets position before moving in.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

So... he has a TWO percent chance of taking a wound, unless its an invulnerable save (then its a 25% chance of taking a single wound from a D-strength weapon)?
Combined with his melee abilities, the man can just waltz from titan to titan, at just above a quarter of their price, blowing one every turn (okay TWO for those 2500pt warlord ones)...
And on top of that if he IS (big f**in if) killed there's an 81.8% chance he'll stand right back up anyways.

Wow that is kinda a little overpowered. The whole reroll armor saves is just godly. Maybe just of the top of my head if you really want to keep this then say the reroll has to be a 6.

What's up with the "Primarch" rule? Are you trying to make him immune to Vortex weapons? 'Cause noone is immune to those. This guy seems to have been designed to be OTT.

he is a primarch, they are supposed to be ridiculously OP.
I think Ill just remove the armor save rerolls, and change the primarch rule to basically be eternal warrior (and the god of war clone)

Angron is nearly identical to a Blood-thirster, except his sword inflicts Instant Death on a d6 roll of 6 to wound.
