So what are they? I got some AOBR Orks laying around and I figure I might as well finish off the army.

Yet with the abysmal Ork BS, no real Melta weaponry, how do Orks manage against Armour value? I would assume with Power Klaws mostly.

and has it been confirmed one way or another about the Deff Rolla and Vehicle Ramming, or is it still under debate? I'd rather not be known as a jerk who would do *anything* to win.

Against armor 10, 11, 12 lootas are a spectacular unit. Against armor 13 and 14, the power klaw is probably the smartest bet for a take on alll comers ork list. I love killa kans for anti-land raider duty. They can create a physical wall to block tank shocking, and they can cut a land raider to shreds if it ever stops moving, or slows down long enough to get more shooting.

The deffrolla issue is still up for debate. But as the 'extra sprue' that GW has made is soon to go on sale, I would assume they'd rule in favor of ramming. Or at least wait to rule on it until after everyone had purchased the sprues for the rollas, then say no to ramming deffrolla hits.

The deffrolla issue is still up for debate. But as the 'extra sprue' that GW has made is soon to go on sale, I would assume they'd rule in favor of ramming. Or at least wait to rule on it until after everyone had purchased the sprues for the rollas, then say no to ramming deffrolla hits.


What's the current issue with the Rolla?

Yep...Lootas and Klaws are armor killers.

Of course, if you absolutely have to kill LRCs that are bringing termies into your face, nothing beats the can openers that are the 4 armed Deffdread or Warboss on bike

Search Deffrolla and ramming in YMDC as i really don't wan't to start that again...

Lootas, PK, Dreads, Kans...really is how orks deal with it. Lots of numbers. Every nob should have either a BC or PK to hit rear armor against a tank.

Oh, I missed one glaring way to kill tanks with Orks - Deffkoptas with TLRLs and a Buzzsaw are great too. Thanks to their scout move or outflank, I never fail to bag at least one tank with a unit of 2 Koptas w TLRLs and 1 buzzsaw.

Agreed on the TWRL koptas, they are pretty accurate as well being twin linked lol

buzzsaws are not so good for anti tank. Str 6 is only ok against light vehicles

Ahem...you always assault rear armor in 5th

That means that a buzzsaw (S7 on the charge) is a threat to anything short of a Monolith or LR.

Damn, I've been avoiding buying more for my Ork army. However, the Killa Kans make a lot of sense against armor. My Deff Skull army also suffers from the same issue.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

All ork armies typically suffer from an armour issue. Its usually the 2nd or 3rd question i try to figure out when planing a list (as I build my armies around a set list that I can adapt)

And you don't get more Deffskullz than a Kan wall with a Deff Dred or two backing them up. I can tell you this... if a Land Raider (or any other vehicle for that matter) gets close to a 4 armed Dred, it's going to die. Period.

Been toying with the Kan/Shoota combo. Squads of Shoota Boyz... Kans with Kustom Mega Blastas supported by Deff Dreds for a shooting/assault screen. Kustom Force Field to protect all of 'em. Kans make a great anti-Terminator threat, though in my experience the real way to kill termies is fire volume from Shoota Boyz. Those ones have to come up sometimes and when you are rolling saves by the handful...

Oh sure, you're giving up 4+ cover saves to everything the Boyz shoot at... MEQs are going to get a better save anyway. For the soft squishy stuff you can just move the Kans out of the way.

Deff Koptas with twin-linked rokkits are awesomely powerful for the price. First turn, first 3 shots of the last game I played with my son, his Deff Koptas (3 separate units) had immobilised my Predator, knocked a weapon off my Land Speeder, and killed a bike! Admittedly he was lucky -- but that's great going for 135 points' worth of units shooting for one turn.
