Is Apologizing. My thread about how you feel about homosexuality has caused a huge amount of dickheadedness by alot of people. I asked for
EVERYBODIES opionion in that thread, but should have put a "No Dick Heads Allowed" sign on it. My bad. And now that that's out of the way I am also sorry for

2. Going to the dentist to find one of my threads locked, and failing in my duty to keep Unlocked.
3. Eating unions at lunch.

Never apologize for other people's heads being up their asses. I should know, I bring that out in people.

Obviously this is a private board and we have our own rules, but I'm not sure topics should be totally forbidden because of the potentially bad reactions by some posters. Of course, you have to balance that with the value of any given thread on a topic.

There's also a certain irony in a guy telling people not to post controversial or political stuff when your sig and bio all contain political rimshots. Just a, you know, casual observation.

I haven't read your original thread yet. I was going to, but now it seems like I should pass it. So I write the following without reading anything out of your previous except your opening.

Since you came to Dakka about 5 Months ago, you started a lot of different, yet sometimes very interesting threads in the off-topic section. Granted, mostly because you hadn't figured out how to upload pictures in the modeling section, but that's not the point.

As far as I can tell, you chose Dakka as your "favourite" Forum to talk to other people about pretty much anything. Looking into your profile again, I see you started topics about Silent Hill, X-Men and your personal search for peace. And just recently, about your sexuality.
And this is totally okay. Scout, I really don't care about your sexual preferences. It doesn't make you any less of a regular person in my eyes and if you want to talk about that in an off-topic forum, then it is your choice to do so. I don't see why you should apolagize for anything.

I only posted once in that thread. Your opening post here only supports what I said about the cry for attention in the other.

I am only posting once in this thread. I suggest you go back and reread my post in the other thread and then look at your actions and intentions by starting this thread.

Nothing I've said here or there is inflamatory or discriminatory. Just observation based off of my life experience. If you don't like what I'm saying then again I refer you to my post in the other thread and say why should any of our opinions matter to you.

Polonius… what I was saying was that those topics are best left un-posted. Because there WILL be people who flame it. However, I have seen some half way decent topics of those issues, heck there is a topic on religion that has 710 posts (ATM) on it on the dakka board right now (I haven’t been paying attention to it because I don’t want to read 50 some odd pages of posts). And I have seen posts on gun control get in the 100's before.

It’s just that the vast majority of these issues will, within 3 pages of posts, degrade into "I’m right your wrong... get over it"... "NO, I’m right and YOUR wrong" "(insert highly offensive insult )"..."( insert more )" then... LOCKED (by frazz )

if you want to post them then there is nothing i can do to stop you. im just throwing my 2 cents out there.


True enough my bio dose contain a small political shot with USSA, but I haven’t made a post about it (though it is tempting).... however my sigs are just quotes, they are not a matter of opinion. They are a direct quote from someone.

First off, nobody here is 9, so we don't need the cute little "direct quote" business. I'd launch into a bit about taking stuff out of context and the nature of 24/7 media coverage, but there's no real point.

The point is that you put stuff in every post you make that is more likely to cause flamey responses. If your standard is that people shouldn't post things that will attract flames, I think you're violating your own standard every time you post. Add in the fact that by your own admission those posts often have value, and the limited value of your sig/bio, and I'm pretty sure the irony is self evident.

Look, you've got every right to be a chippy guy in every post, but It's a little silly to see you try to tell us not to post controversial things because it'll attract flames.

I'd like to voice my opinion that threads get locked a lot on Dakka, and I prefer a mod style that gives a warning or two before a lock.
It doesn't bother me massively, but the last while a lot of the topics on here have been locked soon after one of my posts. (Heh. Made me a bit suspicious that it was my fault. If it is, I'd appreciate a PM or something. I'd rather not wind up the mods. I moderated a polemics board for a couple of years and I know it can be a chore.)
