some ideas for the new codex:
1. commander pask in a demolisher (BS4, re-roll wound, and +1 pen against armor
2. veteran platoon. (very solid fire base with BS4, 3 special weapon, and a 4+ save)
3. creed + kell for ld10 order checks
4. 2 company command squads (1 for killy counter-assault goodness with Stracken and Nork, and 1 with creed and kell)
5. outflanking platoon with Al'Rahem
6. psyker battle squad in combo with snipers (to drop an enemy to ld2 and make them pinned/fall back)
7. primaris psyker (he has WS/BS4, force weapon, 3 attacks, 2 wounds, ld9, and an assault 2d6 S6 AP5 power, all for 70 pts!!!!)

please nothing about a valk or vendy rush because that topic has been extensively covered in other threads. looking forward to reading more ideas

Veteran Chimera bunker: Vets with triple plasma and lascannon, you get 4 shots at 24 inches all ap2, without having to get out of the vehicle.

Medusa's w/ cammo netting parked behind leman russ battle tanks for a 2+ cover save to the front.

Only 1 tank? if you choose to field an extra tank, some that I really enjoy the idea of are Punishers, Medusas, and plasma tanks.

And I wouldn't worry about putting Pask on the Demolisher, since if you move(and with only 24", you will most likely do alot of moving) you can only fire one, which might as well be the ordnance, and also since even if you do get a chance to use the Lumbering Behemoth rule, 9 HB shots(depends on your hull/spons setup) are kinda "pshaw" in comparison to the Punisher's Heavy 20 just from it's main weapon. (think about it; 20 gatling shots + 9 hb shots, at bs4... and possibly 3 more hs shots if you choose the pintle)

The only benefit I see from putting Pask on the demolisher is that it will scatter 1" less than it would otherwise, which will maybe fit in 1-3 extra hits on the enemy. Unless the Demolisher is the only tank you own as of currently, then by all means use Pask. (and btw, I'm thinking of how I could add on the Punisher's gatling gun to a demolisher tip. if you're interested, I'll most likely post some pics in the future. not soon though, sadly)

and how many numbers are we thinking for a Vet platoon? I do like the idea, and I will most likely use it to some extent, but it can get quite costly...

and also, I'm sure you know this, but don't forget the Vox's :O Vox-casters are the guards' new bestfriend, next to more tanks lol

And @ Warmaster, that's a good idea... Breacher shells?

If I've heard correctly, Creed's special rules allow a single unit of any type to outflank, don't they? (I originally heard this only worked for single vehicles, but I'm now under the impression that it works for squardons.)

Has anyone considered using this with squardons of short-ranged tanks or assault guns such as Demolishers, Punishers, or Medusas? Given all the infantry that can potentially outflank in support of such a group, and the advisors that allow rerolls of entry edge, this seems appealing.

i wanted to put pask in the demolisher so it gets to add +1 pen to a S10 and a S9

Pask in a Demolisher with Melta Sponsons does not suck when it comes to killing tanks.

I think the addition of being to have almost every single unit in your army outflank is pretty badass.

Creed + Astropath w/ 2 Body Guards, MEdic etc...

CCS w/ Astropath w/ 2 BodyGuards ( Fire Squad w/ plasmas)

Platoon Squad

Al Rahim w/ Platoon Squad Fire Base
Chimera
Platoon Squad merged 50 man w/ Commissar
6 Man Special w/ 3 Demolitions
Chimera H. Flamer
6 Man Special w/ 3 Demolitions
Chimera H. Flamer

10 Man Veteran w/ 3 Plasmas w/ Harker

10 Man Veteran w/ 3 Plasmas

Fast Attack

Scout Sentinels x 3 basic loadout

3 Valkyries

1 for Creed

1 For Vets

1 for second Cmnd Squad

Hellhound Melta x 3 these receive scout

Whooooooo

edit:

Basically the entire army outflanks turn two; on a 2+ with rerolling flank ; all has either Chimeras or Valks to deploy ; then add to that you have a huge 50 man unit that can either shoot 150 shots at 24 inches or if you manage to get even half of that 50 man to fire 100 shots at 12.

Then you have two special weapon squads w/ demo charges and H. Flamer Chimeras that move 12 on and jump out throwing their Demolition charges. Later on by the way the CCS can embark those Chimeras and still issue orders.

Then you have a Squad of 3 Hell Hounds w/ Melta gun blast templates;

3 Valkyries w/ STR4 blast Templates.

Lets see uhm;

Thats about it as far as tactics go. I mean you have a Veterans Squad and multiple squads able to take objectives. Etc..

Ah about the special weapon squads chimeras you can buy two chimeras for the 50 man squad thats how you put them in.

Uh how does this work?

Okay ; dedicated transport x2 flanks ; Chimeras come on x 2 ; Special weapons team boards chimera when they are within two.

It's a goofy thing but it is completely legitamate.

Chimeras Move on; Special Weapons move on Board Chimeras from the 50 man squad.

pardon me asking, but how are you getting 150 shots at 24" with 50 guard? unless you're using FRFSRF, but even then, I can only see 100 shots.. I dunno if you typo'd but ya.

and I'm not too sure on how outflanking works? I know what flanking means, so in this case does outflanking mean basically to take on the enemy by all sides with mass numbers?

lol, and lastly, how many points would a list like that take? 1500-1850? possibly less(maybe?) since you're not including any LR

Its outflanking I just abreviated it and was shoing some of the silly ness.

Yes; that is with FRFSRF a 50 man mob can do 150 shots if all in range.

It's actually not alot of points at allthis is rough remembering of what I have as I dont crossreference and am at work

I personally wouldnt take Special Weapons teams in Chimeras but you get the idea.

You could just go with 2 hellhounds normal with Multimelta I guess.

Also that list without adding Special weapon quads is like 1400 points

A more realistic list would be like

Creed + Advisors + some guns 200

CCS+ Advisors + some guns 150

Troops
Alrahim + Platoon HQ w/ Chimera 175
40 man w/ Commissar 235

Veteran Squad w/ Harker 150 w/ 3 Plasma
Demolitions

Veteran Squad w/ Harker 140 w/ 3 Plasma
Demolitions

Fast Attack

3 Valkyries w/ Missile Pods 330

2 Hellounds w/ Multimelta blast 270

The Basic Principle is to just leave everything off table; with advisors you are able to come on on a 2+ ; rerolling which flank or short edge board. Then just completely dominate that side of the board with artillery etc..

FRFSRF only gives two shots at 24". Also, the maximum number of lasguns (the only weapon that order applies to) in an infantry squad is 9 in a squad with no weapons upgrades.
