So i decided to post on forums after all... haha. My friend got me addicted to 40K and even though we hide it from our women, GOD it's fun. I've beeing toying a bit with an army list to be able to trash his SM and something to beat another Ork player. So here's my list so far:

HQ1: 270 PTS
Shas'el 50 + 15 (XV 84) + 10 Targeting array + 5 HW multi-tracker + 40 double plasma rifle
+ HW drone controller + 15 shield drone

HQ2:
Shas'el 50 + 15 (XV 84) + 5 HW multi-tracker + 40 double plasma rifle + 10 Targeting array
+ HW drone controller + 15 shield drone

Troops: 120 PTS

FW Rifle squad: 60pts (fish)
FW Carbine squad: 60pts (fish)

Elite: 150 PTS

XV8: 25 + 8 Burst cannon + 12 Missile pod + 5 Multi-tracker
XV8: 25 + 8 Burst cannon + 12 Missile pod + 5 Multi-tracker
XV8: 25 + 8 Burst cannon + 12 Missile pod + 5 Multi-tracker

Support: 225 PTS

Devilfish: 80 + 20 SMS + 5 disruption pod + 10 multi tracker + 5 targeting array + 5 target lock
Devilfish: 80 + 5 disruption pod + 5 targeting array + 10 Seeker missile

Heavy Support: 235 PTS

Broadside: 70 + 5 Multi-tracker + 10 TL Plasma rifle
Broadside: 70 + 5 Multi-tracker
Broadside: 70 + 5 Multi-tracker

I just fielded this today and it was pretty succesfull. I totaly forgot to use the markerlights and the missle though... would probably have been even better! Although i considered droping the seeker for HW target locks on the 88's. Anyways any input is nice and apreciated so long as it's constructive! And i don't want to hear about using kroots for a while... thanks

Unfortunately, you need to read your codex again. You can't give a suit two separate plasma rifles, making the multi-tracker useless. There is also a 0-1 limitation on XV84s, seeing as you are playing Forge World rules.

Two minimum squads of fire warriors are going to get wiped off the table fairly quickly, denying you the chance to win any objective based match. Pulse Rifles vs Pulse carbines is a purpose driven choice.

As for the Devilfish, the one seeker missile is a kind of weak add-on, either more or none for consistency will work out better. Same goes for the SMS/targeting array.

You might want to replace the burst cannons on your XV8s with plasma rifles, expensive yes, but generally worth it.

Giving TL plasma rifles for broadsides is generally a waste, as they will generally be tank hunting all game and S6 isn't that good, even against AV10.

Hope this helps.

Edit for grammar.

what is the model capacity on a devilfish?

Where does it say you can't have two of the same type? It only states that you can't have three. Paying full cost for two of the same weapons and having a multi-tracker to fire them both, without re-roll to hit. I think i will just drop the XV84's idea and use regular suits and also drop the seeker missile and plasma on broadside and invest it in bigger troops

Capacity is 12 on a devilfish. I put 6 just to save points and put them elsewhere since i never take them out untill the last turn if at all.

Battlesuit Armory, First paragraph, last sentence: "No model can pick the same item twice..."

Sorry

As for the devilfish, if it's been working for you, go for it.

Edit for clarification.

OK so I've been reading a bit and here is a redone version with my understanding so far:

HQ1: 210 PTS

Shas'el 50 + 30 TL Plasma rifle + 10 Targeting array + HW drone controller + 15 shield drone

HQ2:

Shas'el 50 + 30 TL Plasma rifle + 10 Targeting array + HW drone controller + 15 shield drone

Troops: 150 PTS

FW Rifle squad: 90pts (8+'ui)(fish)
FW Rifle squad: 60pts (fish)

Elite: 150 PTS

XV8: 25 + 8 Burst cannon + 12 Missile pod + 5 Multi-tracker
XV8: 25 + 8 Burst cannon + 12 Missile pod + 5 Multi-tracker
XV8: 25 + 8 Burst cannon + 12 Missile pod + 5 Multi-tracker

Support: 210 PTS

Devilfish: 80 + 20 SMS + 5 disruption pod + 10 multi tracker + 5 targeting array
Devilfish: 80 + 5 disruption pod + 5 targeting array

Heavy Support: 280 PTS

Broadside: 70 + 5 HW Multi-tracker + 10 ASS + 5 Leader + 5 HW Target lock
Broadside: 70 + 5 HW Multi-tracker + 10 ASS + 5 Leader + 5 HW Target lock
Broadside: 70 + 5 HW Multi-tracker + 10 ASS + 5 Leader + 5 HW Target lock

Now i have a question about the SMS. How does it work basically? When you pay for it on the Devilfish does it fire 4 each or is it 4 missiles altogether? And on the broadsides does it act as a TL or is it separate or just 4 shots? Thanks

I'll start from the bottom up.

The SMS: The system altogether fires 4 S5 AP5 shots that ignore night fighting, line of sight and intervening cover that the target unit isn't touching. Pretty nice, eh?

Broadsides: The target locks are superfluous because each broadside is a unit in itself; other than that, it's fine.

Devilfish: Try to find the points to give the second one the same equipment. In addition to the firepower boost, it will make choosing which one to kill first harder.

XV8s: Low points suits; good for killing GEQs.

Fire Warriors: Maybe more? And get them both a Shas'ui with a Bonding Knife; this way they won't run off the board at the first sign of trouble.

XV8 Shas'els: The targeting arrays might be a bit much. BS5 and a re-roll? That might be a bit of overkill, especially as they both eat a hardpoint. Giving up one for a different weapon would give some flexibility and a further HW multi-tracker would increase your firepower. And be careful with the drones, as losing one would put the unit under half strength and could run away from the game (how embarrassing) so stick them with a regular XV8 for survivability.

Keep working at it.
