How much would it be worth outside the deal?
Are they being sold at a loss, or just a reduced profit?

You mean the new army boxes Rackham is relasing this summer? Or Neal's great clearance deals at the WarStore?
The Rackham army boxes are supposedly going to be $70. The RedBlok one will contain a Dotch Yaga ($50 or so by itself) and another walker ($30 by itself) as well as a couple of units of infantry ($30 each) and some terrain (I have no idea) and the faction book ($15). So probably over $120.

I think the faction book is sold separately. The boo in that set is a tactics book.

Prepaint is nice but you have to really fgork out for AT-43. I had a long look at it them decided my money can go elsewhere.

No Army Book is included, only a "tactical booklet" which lets you play only the specific 2000 AP army from the set. You'll still need to purchase the Army Book. You're also forgetting that it includes the equivalent of Accessory Set 1($10), plus about half of Accessory Set 2(~$7.50).
The Red Blok Set:
Dotch Yaga - $50
Odin & Manon with Urod - $45
Krasnye Soldati - $30
Krasnye Soldati - $30
Krasnye Soldati Attachment - $30
Dragonov Kommandos - $25
Accessory Set 1(Tape Measure, Dice, Blast Template) - $10
Terrain - ~$7.50
Total: $227.50
All for $70.

Mad Doc Grotsnik wrote:Is it going down the tubes or something? No, they've just realized they need good cheap entry level boxes akin to GW's Battalion Boxes(only with a full legal army and for cheaper) as the Operation: Damoclese box really only serves UNA/Therian players and Sentinels that use it for demos. Compare it somewhat to GW's Battalion Boxes vs. AoBR(but in reverse in relations to how good of a deal they are). They will be doing the same with Confrontation by the end of the summer.

Ah fair enough!
I get confused about Rackham these days. They were going under, then they weren't, then they were, then they changed the name etc (please note the preceeding sentence was to illustrate my confusion and is not necessarily the actual timeline!)

Wow, very Kool! I've played it and enjoyed it, but haven't been able to justify starting another game system at the prices of the models. I may actually build an army for AT-43!

Wow. That's a good enough deal that I'll have to look a little closer at the game.

It is a great deal.
Take it from someone who spent many times that on the same stuff a couple of years ago.
It is actually a pretty cool game. To bad I can't get my 40k friends to give it a shot.

This is pretty much the response they wanted when they planned the boxes. They DO know that the pricing is putting people off(as well as the Attachment box organization) and these boxes(and the Winter Camo Star Troopers) are just the start of a plan to alter how units/attachments and boxing is done.

Are there plans for Karmans/Therian boxes?
I hate Rackham so much now. I hate them with 70 dollars.

malfred wrote:Are there plans for Karmans/Therian boxes? I hate Rackham so much now. I hate them with 70 dollars. Yes. All 6 factions should have their boxes out by early-ish 2010. BDJV wrote:So what's different about the Winter camo Star Troopers? They're white. Seriously, though, there are now two Attachments(1 with the second MG, 2 Rocket Launchers, Officer, and 2 Engineers; the other with second MG, 2 Flamers, Officer and 2 Medics) to got with the Unit Box(6 Grunts, Leader, and MG) instead of 1 Attachment(second MG, 1 Rocket Launcher, 1 Flamer, 1 Medic, 1 Engineer, and Officer). You can now choose whether you want both instead of "needing" to buy 2 Attachments just to get any of the alternate weapons for a full sized unit or 2 of the same Specialists.
