This came up in a game last night.

Friend had two Leman Russ Demolishers as a squadron. In the movement phase he moved only one tank 6" and the other tank remained stationary.

When it comes to shooting, can the one that didn't move at all fire all of its weapons?

In the squadron rules under movement it says that all vehicles in a squadron move at the same speed (ie: all combat speed or all cruising etc). So even though it didn't move at all, is it still considered to have moved at combat speed?

Vehicle Squadrons work pretty much the same way as units.
"When a squadron moves, all of its vehicles move at the same speed."

So yeah if one model moves, they all count as moving, even if some of them didnt actually move, the same way that a heavy Weapons team in an Infantry Unit that moved only the Flashlight Guys cannot fire because it counts as moving, even if it didn't move.

So if one Russ moves 0.0000001" to 6" they whole squadron counts as moving at Combat Speed.

I don't have my 40K book on me to check, but don't vehicle squadrons(and each vehicle in said squadron) have to move? I could swear that there's a rule to that effect in there, but I could be wrong, I haven't used a squadron in probably 6-7 months(mostly because of the Immobilized = Destroyed rule).

Nope, nothing in the squadron rules makes a Vehicle have to move.

It could just be a fluff thing I'm thinking about when it mentions something about Vehicle Squadrons having to keep on the move or something like that.

Most Likely. And vehicle Squadrons for cheap things are fine and dandy, but when you take things like tooled up Executioners (200+ Points) which can then be wrecked on a glancing hit again, its just not worth it.

All Vehicle Squadrons did was make vehicles die like they did in 4th ed. They can be blown up on a glance 6, and on a 4+ pen. AP 1 rules aside. But you get Extra Armour for free, functionally. Ask any Guard player who liked LR before. Im sure if you asked if they wanted to have even more LR's then the 3 max they have had, they would have jumped at it. Especially when Chimera's and Squad costs reduction would end up caughing up the points to afford them.

Not to bad if you look at in in terms of tactics most plays can still understand. Compared to everyone else rules, sure its not as good. But hey, whats that AV 14 is for

And new and improved AV 13 on the sides.

Anyway, all this is meant for the tactics forum. But its my .02

The "they have to move" bit, is GWs fluff justification why Immobilized count as Wrecked. Its just fluff.
