He means 'dirty water' hot dog. All of the street hot dog vendors just use tapwater for their hot dog boilers. However, it is the taste of NYC tapwater that helps give the hot dogs (and the pizza) the unique NYC taste. And I don't mean that in a bad way what so ever.

do the US have generally speaking problems with their tab water? here it is quite pleasant... so if someone doesn´t use bottled water for cooking no one would even mention it...it is just the usual way to cook....

No, but water quality (and therefore contaminants and therefore flavor) varies immensely. So cooking in NYC water is a different flavor than cooking in, say, Washington State water.

ok... we have that too... in certain areas you get quite differently flavoured water...

I know that it is no wise decision to drink water from the tab in certain countries in the world... in the movies we see so often those big water gallons... I thought this must have something to do with the water quality in America...but good to know it isn´t that bad at all...!

Nah, NYC has safe water, they then treat it, making the distinct flavor of it. No parasites to worry about there.

But NY food is awesome, and if one is not careful, one can get rather over sized fast. But McDonald's in Manhattan will be over priced due to the way they have to ship all the stuff in, so last I was there, a 1/4 pounder was a buck more than on Long Island per se.

If you're checking out art museums Dave, I would recommend the Cloisters... that's where the MET keeps their cool medieval art (they got some real classics) and also those monks made amazing miniature shrines!

We were really only there for a day, can't see/do it all in a day!

For a country boy like me, it was a surreal experience. The sheer size of Manhattan was the most surprising part.

We've been in Albany the past couple days, Just now I got to go to this great game shop here called Zombie Planet.
I scored one of these Dust Tactics modular building sets, I've never seen THAT much Dust stuff in one shop ever.

I also scored a handful of the army painter flowers and various groundcovers for Bag End.

When you get home and bust that building open ill be watching, the flgs near me has the whol line of dust stuff nd I just looked at that on Friday. The guy there didn't really know how it would look with 40k/ necromunda build alongside it.

This place had a display cabinet full of painted dust figs and walking tanks, they appear to be the right scale

Yep, I got the first FFG Dust tactics starter, so I have 2 of each walkers, and some Yanks and Germans of that alternate world

Well Dave, I've just spent 3 full days in work going through your mothballed thread again, and this one (In Dakka's blog view too, so I only got the posts with pretty pictures, and it still took me that long! )

I just wanted to say thanks for sharing so much of your awesome projects with us all

You have been my chief inspiration when it comes to building terrain (heavily riveted, of course ) It was your Necromunda buildings on the first few pages of your previous thread that inspired me to get some decent terrain making materials and get building! Of course, the subsequent stuff and OT madness has been just as inspirational

I don't take many photos of my stuff, but tonight, I'm going to take loads of pictures and put it all on Dakka

So thank you Dave, and the rest of the =|_,= for a 3 day distraction from work, and for inspiring me to do more terrain stuff, and document it on Dakka!
