As the title says I'm gonna be starting a Mono-Nurgle army soon and would like to know if there is any tips, tactics, or advice you all could give.

The Standard of Seeping Decay can be good in larger games as it can make a large part of your army stubborn. Stubborn Plaguebearers with Regeneration = The Ultimate Tarpit. Bring Epidimius in and your units will wound with Poison on a 4+ after enough kills.

Hated isn't going to happen. There are two other Fantasy Daemon Players one Mono-Tzeentch and the other Mono-Khorne. We also got Vamps, and a wrok in progress Royal Air Force.

yea...none of the others are quite as annoying as mono-nurgle to play against (though the tzeench guy will tool you without effort).

Any other tips? About deployment or wargear selection?

Gear max magic, put all the dudes on palanquins, and bring a unit of nurglings to scout with. Unless you are facing mono-tzeench, you practically have to try to lose with this list.

Yea, thats prety much it.
Take the bound item on all hearlds, take the stubborn BSB and go kill. Just hang out at magic range and whittle everyone down. Charge in when they get to close.
Perhaps a unit of furies for warmachine hunting and contesting table quarters but you really dont need them as very few warmachines should scare you.

I've actually got a guy around here who is doing this list.

He's got:

Herald of N w/palanquin, you go last, no flanks + rear, in a unit of PBs w/poison wounds count double
Herald of N w/palanquin, you go last, no flanks + rear, in a unit of PBs w/poison wounds count double
Herald of N w/palanquin, you go last, no flanks + rear, in a unit of PBs w/poison wounds count double
GUO w/Balesword, you go last

Everyone is a level one mage. One of the Heralds is BSB, but I don't recall which banner he takes.

It's essentially a VP denial list. You march the field, crush something, and end the game having taken no damage. It works pretty well, esp. at cleaning up ordinary lists. Let them charge you, then obliterate them. It's especially devastating if they can't stop the miasma everywhere at once dependably.

I think to be more competative you'd drop the GUO char killer and make another identical unit, but I go back and forth on it. In general, I think the soft scores for having him would exceed any possible battle point gain from dropping him, and in all honesty he's quite useful at dealing with dragons and the like. Not many better char killers in the game (though Archaon sorts him out).

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

I think the standards are still magic banners and can't be duplicated like the gifts.

Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)

Nope, the daemon book says it doesn't have any magical items. I know that much. Thanks all for the suggestions. In particulaur 40kenthusiast for providing a variation to the Nurgle list. I'll try and put in a list today or tomarrow up here on the boards.

The deamon FAQ states that standards follow the rules for magical standards. Go figure.

In general the pure nurgle army doesn't have the go last or the no flank bonus thingi (i forget the names).
All hearlds get a bound spell. This means that you have 4 magic missiles some of which are going through, and if the opponent wants to stop miasma (which he usually does) he will have to let even more magic missiles through. So once you get into combat the enemy has lost a substantial ammount of guys already.

edit: banners are treated as magic items with the exceptions listed in the deamon codex (such as multiples are allowed)

Yeah... I just looked at the faq and it doesn't make a whole lot of since but since it sorta says you can duplicate magic banners, and I play nurgle, I guess it's fair
