I'm planning to run this for a game against a chaos army and, on the same night, a game against a nid army. The chaos army will have berzerkers and lash but I'm not sure what the Nid army will run. I'm wondering if I should switch out the drop pods with rhinos or even razorbacks. What do you folks think?

Here is a great nifty trick with your Librarian and Terms.
Drop the MoA go with Term ARmour if available. Get Gate of Infinity and Teleport your terms all around the table not deviating.
Teleport homer works only on models arriving with Term armour. Its a nasty piece of work and completely legitimate.
Get rid of the drop pods theyre not going to be that great against Tyranids IMO; Razorbacks with Twin Heavys will rock.
Why no Sternguard you are missing one of the best units in the entire codex.

I'd take a Codicier.
MotA is not a must have; nullzone is pretty good in some situations.

i think your army will destroy the opposing chaos army, however make sure you take lots of fire power to take down the beserkers before they swarm over your army. they have tons of attacks!

does an IC need terminator armor to join a terminator squad?
If not, DJPHRANQ can use the same GoI strategy without changing a thing.
With this strategy one could Gate, rapid fire termies, charge termies, and then gate out next turn and do it all over a gain. Same idea as stern but this time you have power fists instead of special ammunition. (wait, termies ARE "relentless," right?)
I wonder if this is actually a better hammer than using the stern...

Your in a battlefield with the Rhino your Leman could move like. Whats in your hand, back at me, I have it, it's the fire control for the Twin-linked Assault Cannons aimed at you. Look again, it's a Deep-Striked Land-Raider. Anything is possible when your Tanks move like Blood Angels, and not like Guardsmen. I'm on a Baneblade. |

I changed out the Lascannons and Plasmacannons for cheaper counterparts, replaced the drop pods with default Razorbacks, stuck the librarian in terminator armor, and gave him Gate of Infinity... this leaves me with

The same changes made as above except no terminators... they're replaced with the Sternguard... and the Librarian is in normal power armor.

From what I read, my head hurts now... I feel like I failed my Psychic Test IRL...
Maybe I could talk to my opponents before the games and see what their interpretation might be... and then I'll totally go against whatever that is!

in sum, the consensus is, GoI works with locator beacons whereas terminator deep strike (deployment) works with teleport homers... you still should get assent from your opponent before the game

So I played my game against the chaos player and lost. The Nid player ended up being out of town.
The mission was the one where each player has an objective placed in their deployment. The deployment was pitched battle.
I think what lost me the game was I was too spread out. I should have been more defensive but I was all over the place.
I'll see if I can't get some kind of battle report up. I'm not to keen on remembering stuff.

For the reccord I am not a big fan of 5 man dev squads. Every wound to the squad you lose either fire power or the sargent. If you want to take them give them 2-5 extra marines so the stock guys are the one gettign killed off. I would also make your squads 4 ML and 4 HB, not the split 2/2. Your HBs will do nothing to the armor your MLs will shoot at some times.

Thanks to luck with cover and armor saves I was able to have my 5 man devs survive in a recent game... but I do worry about losing firepower when they get picked off. As for splitting the effectiveness of the squad, I'll probably avoid that next game.

Second what Backno said. You need 10 men in a Dev squad and the ability to CS or not in missions, really. 8 can be a good compromise, but stick with 4 ML/HB for that.
I would also try to find some points to put two Plasma Cannons in the Tac Squads, and at least one meltagun with the multi-melta squad. Really, MM's aren't your best option against Tyranids, either, but if it's all you have, they will burn holes in MCs just fine.
Personally, I'd go for PC/PG, PC/Fl, MM/MG for your tac loadouts. Plasma can make even high-toughness creatures evaporate and ignore 2+ saves with decent range, flamers are of course awesome against hordes, especially when you get to pick your shots with RBs.
