Not only new Predator films, but directed by Robert Rodriguez, far and away one of my favourite directors.

Awesome. I only hope that it doesn't go for gore over story, like Requiem did.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Either way, I think we're in for a decently made film!

Though when it comes to Predator, just how much story can you have? First two worked because it set out the premise, and then explored it in a different setting with the second film. This worked nicely. I have the first collected volume of Predator comics from Dark Horse, and although it's been a while since I last read it, it's much the same...

But yeah, copious amounts of Gore is no alternative to having at least some kind of a plot.

I have a tendency to avoid gory (that's MA15+ over here) films nowadays. It seems that directors and writers think that to make a film:

1. Helpless teenagers get stuck in the middle of nowhere
2. Teenagers get naked, boobs must be visible.
3. Whoreish girl dies naked.
4. FOUNTAINS OF BLOOD
5. ???
6. PROFIT!

Quite sad really. Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street got it right, but nowadays horror movies have degenerated into ludicrous gorefests.

Somewhere in south-central England.

Agreed, about the gore in modern 'horror' movies, I mean.

I enjoyed the Predator where they discovered an ancient pyramid in the Antarctic. The last one, in Oregon, was pretty much rubbish.

Hmm. The first AvP wasn't bad, but it certainly seemed a tad too GRIMDARK. Why does *everyone* except the helpless woman always die? Why couldn't that dorky scottish bloke survive?

I dunno. I didn't like AvP that much, and thought Requiem was far better.

Then again, I am a smoker and have next to no sense of taste, so perhaps it's simply expanded itself to films as well?

I'm not that bothered about Predator anymore.

Why was Danny Glover given a Civil War pistol at the end of Predator 2? Because Hollywood gets it wrong 95% of the time.

Because that Predator ship had been here during the ACW?

lol I figured as much. It's just the combo of Danny Glover, CW pistol, and alien spaceship in LA. It's like the Manatee plot creator from South Park.

Unless the Civil War took place in the 1770's I think your talking about the War of Independence. Matchlock pistols where long out of use by the time of the ACW, replaced by revolvers.

Why is being given an antique pistol an issue anyway? The Predator in question had gone hunting back then and kept it as a trophy. Simple really.

I like the last AvP movie. It was fun trying to guess who was going to eat the next character the aliens or the predator. Picture yourself as an imperial citizen in a world being invaded by Chaos and Tyranids, and they are gunning each other for the privilege of eating you!!! Lots of fun.

AvP:R would have been great, had the ending not been identical to the ending of Resident Evil: Apocalypse.

This new predator movie should be good however

Was it just me or was AvP:R one of the darkest movies in history?..I don't mean "wow how depressing" dark..I mean " I can't see a damn thing in this film!" dark.
I've watched it twice and still don't have a clue about what is going on in half the film simply because I cant see a thing.

Did Paul Anderson direct Requiem? Or was he still busy with Resident Evil?
