Greetings fellow Dakkaites,

I recently found myself mere seconds away from buying Wargames Factory Zulu Wars British Infantry to convert to Praetorians, and if not for the timely intervention of ikickyou! and Brother Captain Andrecus, I would've ordered 80 of them not knowing they were too small.

Unfortunately, now I've stalled. I'm not sure what army I want, all I know is that I want Guard. Air Cavalry would be pretty sweet, as would Mechanized. I'm not above footsloggers, but I'm partial to either a mounted army or an "elite" guard force.

Above are some of the ideas I've been playing with. Some, like the Warzone minis, are actually pretty affordable (80 men for $26 USD). Some others, like the Scouts and classic Storm Troopers, are almost prohibitively expensive. I'm not opposed to going outside the range, though I'd like to keep a 40k look so anything imported will be converted.

Please, help me before I peter out and start another Spase Marienz army!

voted. i picked diablobats from no knowledge from any imperial guard sources, except they sound cool.

If you play in official tournaments, I say go with Salvar Chem Dogs. If not, the warzone idea sounds sweet.

Here's my two cents: scouts if you're doing ride of the valkyries or warzone for an armored division.

Warzone is looking pretty competitive right now. I'm not huge in to tourneys and when I do play they're escalation leagues at a non-GW FLGS. That and there's a bag of 80 of them for like $30.

Warzone minis! I loved that game!

They look awesome for IG models and I have used them as SM scouts too.

That was a great game, but some of the models were SOOOO fugly, holy gak.

Faced with a choice, I'd go with the Warzone minis - based purely on price - as long as they were Capital forces - I never really liked the Imperial and Bauhaus factions.

Yes they do. Hence my name on here lol. That and I am actually a believer in the Asatru faith.... Which for those who don't know is following the Viking teachings (such as the Prose Eda). It's modern day viking religion. Hail, All Father! Odin commands you do the Space Wolves viking army!

It's looking like I'm going to end up doing the Warzone thing just based on affordability, but fear not! I shall craft myself a mighty combat patrol of chem dogs.

As far as vikings go, you jerks just made me dust off the ol' wolves. The sons of Odin...er...Russ I mean... could use some scandinavian-style lovin'.

160 Warzone figs on their way to me from across the pond, less than 80 bones with shipping.
