ok so ive seen a couple topics about true scale marines, as well as the term being used a few times
and ive been wondering what that means? true scale? i can see that the ones modelled are bigger but what would they be compared to being true scale?

Someone in a high position can look to see what those under him think, but he shouldn't change himself for them. Just do as you like, and if no one follows you then that just means you weren't good enough for them. - Bleach.

In the fluff a Marine is seven feet tall and much bulkier than a normal human. On the tabletop, they are as just as tall, or even shorter, than human sized models.

True scale make Marines taller, so that they are true to the fluff. So the model will tower over a human sized model.

Purely aesthetic modeling, because in gameplay this makes them easier to see due to true LOS. Not by much, but still...

I've never seen a space marine "powergamer" (read, over-competitive nutjob) get interested in true-scale.

so we're talking about 1-1.5 feet taller than an average man which would be like what? 5 mm? I believe that an IG is about 4-5 mm smaller already so don't fret it.

-Orkishly WHY do I always write that at the end of a post??... Weird habbit.

It's not just the height, it's also the bulk of the armour. The practice of using terminator armour converted into tactical armour (distinguised from true-scaling as 'actual scaling') is done so that the marines are stockier as well as taller. This reinforces the fluff on marine physiology.

but yeah.. purely aesthetic.

personally, I think that if GW wanted to use LOS as a mechanic rather than the old base to base system, that all models should be adequately scaled as a balance to their stats (or maybe compensated with a rule update for particularly big or small models, extra cover for tiny tau as example).

sadly, the chances of us getting lovely new actual scale, multi-part marine models are next to nil, as it would make most of their SM models near obsolete.
But, you never know. They did make the placky terminators bigger. And you would be able to re-use a lot of the important bitz from old tactical marine based kits like heads, weapons and accessories, given that they are, thanks to heavy heroic scale, the right size.

No not at all. Infact Ive seen a bunch of people on here make their warbosses out of MANY different things to make the boss the correct size. One of which was made from a LOTR cave troll with a defiler klaw for a power klaw. Its truely monstrous! Ask around on here I remember it was a DAKKA member
I mena if Thraka is "suppose" to be one of the biggest Orks alive, and Orks are suppose to grow huge depending on how much combat they have been in.... youd think a 15ft tall warboss wouldnt be a rare sight

What I want to see is a "true scale" Space Marine riding a "true scale" bike.

lol I mean yeah true scale marines would be even more rediculous by their tanks. I mean theres no way 10 normal marines could fit in a rhino.
