Alright.. been awhile. Thought I was just going to quit warhammer, but I realized I needed something to letter out my inner-nerd (keeping myself burried in intellectual books and fine art, while enjoyable, sems to lacks the sheer fun of creating a bunch of little mini-soldiers).

That said I'm re-re-starting my daemons.
My idea is to do a khornate/h2h emphasis army... might change though.

Started looking at what I already have and came upon an idea... not sure if it will work, but that's where you guys can help me out!
Was thinking about Daemon Princes and I began to think how all of the models make them out to be more or less strong lumbering angry giant-like creatures. An idea struck me as to make a daemon prince which is a more small, super-human type character (ie regular human height, but with superpowers.... like superman). Would people gripe with me if I did this for a daemon prince (granted he is elevated to account for model's intended height)?

Here's what I threw together with what I had laying around..

size comparison... is it high enough for people not to gripe with me?

does this stance look too wierd or good enough to suggest flying/floating?

close up on head.. greenstuffed a nose piece type thing to cover up the face.. going to work on it a little more, but I think it will look a loittle more natural once it has some paint on it.

two weapon ideas so far...

personally the more personal flair that a model/army has, the better I think it is. Everyone who has played for any length of time has seen most of the models. Power to you man!!!

Quick question though, is this daemons or CSM?

Raising it up to match the height of a regular daemon prince should counter most anyone's complaints. The rest should be silenced by the sheer awesomeness of the concept!

awesome.. glad to see my idea wasn't rejected!

this is going to be daemons, but I wanted to have the daemon prince to retain a more human look to contrast the gibbly-ness of daemons. Thinking along the lines of having the guy be some high exalted champion of chaos.

if all goes to plan.. going to get my bloodletters this saturday!

body and legs done... all secured.
decided on having him wield a two handed sword. don't think ball and chain captured the look I wanted.
I persoanlly think the pose he's in now really shows the flying/floating aspect. surprised how well that turned out.

I dont like it, I dont think the two handed sword gets across the fact that he is a deamon prince; he looks more like a guy being flung through the air. Maybe an axe or a mace of gigantic size in one hand and a hand pointing. The model ought to exude "badbass Motherstuffer", only with an R rating, and I dont feel that this pose, or weapon quite pulls it off.

Nice so far, It's to see a DP that hasn't got power armour on, slap some wings on there to emphasise the floatyness

If you are going to have a two-handed sword on there, make it insanely huge and have it drag along the ground, like the sword is at least his height (or even more) and he can only wield such as blade because he can fly, something that looks like the sword that the nurgle DP wields in the GW model (but bigger), that would look pretty swish

I'll see what I can find laying around...mabey I'll give the giant ball and chain an idea.. had a marble that seemed sized good enough

ya you either need a superman, no sword look, or a gigantic sword like the others are saying.

i dont know ...

I dont collect CSM , but the the thing is , its doesnt have that

Float or fly feeling !

Try one of these , and if neither of them work for you , then im happy

1. But Some wings on
2.make his weapons look like they are going with him in the air , but not like hes being tossed through it !

alright.. going to try reposing him in a more upright floating position so he doesn't look like he's being thrown.

I don't want to put wings on him, I want him to seem supernatural... just defying all logic and such. Intend on painting him in a glowing red/fire paint scheme just to help show his more etheral-ness.

anyways.. here's the latest pose. left foot positioning was still drying so i could not mount him on the base at the time.

Alright.. final change... really loving the way it's looking right now!

still not finished, going to add two shoulderpads and another chain in his other arm...

disk is going to be part of the base and im going to attach other chain bits to the base to make it look like he broke free.

I quite like it, some of the early poses and weapons were a little touch-and-go, but looks ace this way. I assume it will have spikey mace balls on the end?

i was kind of thinking along the lines right now of having the base be some sort of warp prison or something and have him breaking free from it... might change though..
