Now, the new shiny Imperial Guard codex may have less pages for fluff than expected, but still some of them.

Nowhere is there any support for "end times", as is not surprising in a "human" army dex.

So since the IG can muster enough men and material to hammer down any opponent, where are those "end times" gone?

Some bits from the new codex:

-Valhallan regiments with around 120.000 men
-recrutement rates as tribute in millions of men
-parts of an STC found
-armored assault with 8.000 tank companies and 35 super-heavy formations
-several victories over Chaos, eldar, tau, tyranids, orks, .....

Doesn't sound like problems.

I know a codex promotes an army.

But the way of GW fluff didn't point at the "end time" in C: SM and also not in C: IG.

Back to eternal war then..

Why would the IG be getting worse at the "End Time"? Yes, things look grim (and dark) for the Empire, but the guard should be still in working order.

Now, if and when the Golden Throne fails, then things will get interesting...

OK

End time is just an illusion of these xenos....

I'll refer to the IG-dex in the future if i want a not-so-grim and obviously not-so-dark 40k

Well this was all to be expected. The end times concept was probably abondoned by GW as they know that wont appeal to the veterans or the starters either. I expect them to try to keep that detail as quiet as possible.

I am not surprised. Remember how they talked about the spacemarines half a year ago? "A honour guard veteran has slain more foes then a company of other space marines or a full imperial guard regiment (yeah sure, I believe that. If the imperial guard regiment in question is newly recruited and heading for it's first conflict and it's attached veteran units have been lost in the warp on the journey to the warzone) And "A hundred space maries can make a greater difference to a war than 100000 imperial guard.(Well I am sure that is true; If I need to carry out my mission with only three thunderhawks worth of troops, sure.)

I wish they would advance the story line, I've thought for while now
that they've let the game go a bit stale. They need to do something that
will merge the game back in the storyline, something that will change
the feel of the game.I suggested elsewhere that maybe a patriarch
returning to his chapter. How would the empire deal with that? Also how
would the chapters react?

You guys should be careful what you wish for! The last few times GW really "advanced" the story in a big way mean't that armies, ones which people payed good money for and spent good time painting etc, were killed off.

You see, thats what "advancing" the story line does.

Imagine, the Golden throne goes pop, and the Emp dies "finally".....what then? Does Chaos win? If so, great, every Imperial player out there gets their army made redundant over night....great.

Ok, so the Emp gets reborn, and comes back and kicks the living $h1t out of Chaos? oh, great all the Chaos armies are ow no longer game legal....great again.

You see, its all very well asking for the game and fluff to move on, but if it does in any meaningful way, GW is going to lose a lot of supporters.

Man down, Man down....
