Thread title says it all.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Ork Burnas.

well actually more seriously it'd be whatevr the IG walker is. Walking your walker is painful sometimes.

If you mean walker as in Sentinel, then I do hope you are trying to be sarcastic.

The best units IMO to transport are either (Melta) veterans, or if you are playing for fluffiness maybe storm troopers.

Actually, while i was in the 'library" earlier I was considering this question, and had a think:

What about Grey Knight allies? Either a Sqaud of power armor or 6 Terminators... give my guard a nasty little surprise noone will be expecting.

O H I am in the Webway...

Idk if the valk can x-port non-IG and I doubt that it can x-port termies lol... They would be WAY to heavy lol. I would have to say Veterans with meltaguns or Stormtroopers.

The Valkyrie cannot be bought as a dedicated transport. Even if it were it would be irrelevant,a s 5th ed. allows any infantry model to embark in any transport vehicle. The only way it could possibly NOT be able to transport terminators would be if it expressly prohibited terminators, like it DOES, in fact, prohibit Ogryns.

As far as being too heavy... check out what kind of loads helicopters can carry TODAY, much less 40,000 years from now in a far more advanced future...

For normal 40K, it can transport anything in the IG codex except Ogyrn. I'd go with Veterans as the best thing to put in them.

For apocalypse games, it can transport anything except Ogryn. Therefore, you can put 6 assault terminators in it or 12 Khorne Berzerkers or 12 genestealers.

I'd say storm troopers or veterans depending on the mission. If you choose the stormies it would be a good way to get in range of the enemy. Curse you 18" range. :(

Veterans are the best Imperial Guard unit to put in Valkyries. Veterens score are bs4 and can get 3 special weapons either 3 meltas for tank killing or 3 plasmas for killing marines.

If you start talking allies that opens up many doors. Sisters of Battle with Melta Heavy flamer, Sister Superior with Book of St Lucious, combi flamer, Eviserator and a Cannoness added to the squad with an Inferno Pistol, Book of St Lucious and Master Crafted Eviserator sound pretty good. They are scoring and they have decent firepower against both infantry and tanks and are more survivable then imperial guard veterans. Can drop the cannoness if you want to save points but the added master crafted eviserator and stubborn leadership 10 make you stick around a bit longer if assaulted.

Storm troopers are not very good because of their huge cost and they do not score. 10 Veterans with 3 meltas costs less then 5 storm troopers with 2 meltas and the veterans score.

Terminators belong in land raiders because of the assault ramp. Inability to move the valkyrie and assault out really hurts transporting terminators.

Sisters or an Inquisitor Lord with Mystics, Hood and Sanctuary.

The insane size of the Valk makes Sanctuary/Mystics much more effective.

Put the Valk in the front center of your line against deamons and you should be albe to shoot almost anything that comes down at you while using the Hood to counter enemy PBS and Eldar crazyness.

The only problem is that you cant combine it with sisters who make the best single unit in a valk IMHO.

Tough choice, but the way mystics inside the huge valk hull can dominate such a large area of the battlefield is hard to ignore.

Big T has some good ones there...

sisters of battle with melta/melta/combi-melta/book of stubborn

5x grey knights with 2x incinerators

inquisitor/mystics

First two are scoring and have 5+ saves versus lash, grey knights are weaken resolve immune

last one gets the 11" x 8.5" footprint to do its dirt with.

Grey Knights.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Well, ten Hardened Veterans with 3 meltas.
Take two of those units for anti-tank goodness.
Its a suicide mission but hey, they are just soldiers.
