So surprise surprise for me monday night. My brother calls around 9 saying "hey I dont have to work tonight, wanna play some 40k?"
So naturally Im all about letting my boyz kick in some SM teeth, AND I get to test out the new table I built for the first time.
It was a small 500pt game using ONLY troop choices.
First I want to say it was a close game. And was easily one of the best slug fests Ive ever played in.
BUT here is the funny I need to share with everyone. On his first turn he has like 15 or 20 SM all shooting at a trukk and 12 regular boyz. So 6+SV aside I was thinking great there goes a squad. Well he rolled easily 15 1's I swear to anything, I couldnt stop laughing and he wouldnt stop stomping around yelling at Sgts and the like. Then after about 4 minutes of cursing his dice, decides OK fine, eat plasma cannon DOOM, thatll make up for my HORRIBLE shooting. Rolls scatter, finally gets 2 6s , and it deviates RIGHT ONTOP OF HIS RHINO . Lucky for him it didnt explode but I was crying I was laughing so hard at him. The first turn My orks actually out shot his SM with pistols.
In the end we found that we have the PERFECT set of GW die that are used for LS roles, I swear those small AOBR dice cant roll over 4 lol. Just wanted some of you get get a grin and enjoy the humour

Had to be there? What isnt funny about 15-20 SM all failing to hit let alone kill more then 1 6+SV Ork boy, then missing with a plasma cannon and nearly blowing up his own tank? Im guessing our sence of humor obviously lay on different sides of the spectrum.

wait, you havent allready tryed that one? its a winner allright. bin useing it for years. make sure you follow it uop with a blow by blow account of the rules mecanics and fluff just so they understand the graverty of the situation. they will be as warm puttty in your hands. true story.

...on that subject I tried freaking out my DA opponents girlfriend the other week after he 'came out' as a wargamer.

As it's not my girlfriend I don't care how nerdy I look, so I was explaining to her the importance of higher rate of fire vs. AP weapons in fifth edition 40k due to the new cover save rules.

Another 'guess you had to be there' moment, but his two house mates were purple with laughter while he stood there his girlfriend's face dropped lower and lower...

Thats just TOO FUNNY !

I think this is funny. Imagine if it was real and you see a squad of well trained armoured giants not hit a thing apart from their own transport. It's like a carry on film, "Carry on up the Imperium" lol. (Carry on films are a series of British comedy movies made in the 50s and 60s for those that might not know)

So using the story telling rule....15 divided by 3=5. He rolled 5 ones at most. And you lost 3 orks at least.

lol have you ever seen american pie...its from the part when a guy says how many girls hes had sex with...u divide by 3 to get the real number....So I applied this to your story...cuz people always exagerate...see up top you said 15 1s...which i knew was bs...and now you say 7 1s lol...which is much closer to the 5 i came up with...by using my rule...always works

Yeah, it's actually kind of funny. I've versed Eldar with my SM army, the eldar had one of those weapon platform things. Every time it went to barrage my tactical squad it would scatter off, eventually killing a fair amount of the normal troop choice for Eldar (Don't remember the name at the moment), they were the only thing standing in between the SM and that annoying weapon platform, which actually did a good job at killing Eldars. It didn't get to kill any SM at all. I ended up ignoring the weapon platform and allowed it to continue helping me kill Eldars XD

I kept telling myself this until oneday I came home and my girlfriend was reading my Eldar Codex, apparantly she loved the lore behind them.

To cut along story short, I asked her what she wanted for her birthday next month, and she asked me to buying her the beginings of an Ork Army. Apparantly she went online to read 40k fluff and fell in love with Orks.

Who can blame her, eh?

Well, it wasn't that funny to begin with, so you started with sort of a handicap.

Telling about other peoples misfortune usually isn't too funny.

Me telling about how my Boomgun scattered on to a close combat, killing my eight boyz involved, leaving the Necron Lord free to scoot over and rip up my 10 Lootas can be seen as kinda funny (not "hahah, tears running down my face, thighs red from slapping"-funny, mind you).

But talking about how unlucky the other guy was.....and laughing about it, isn't too funny.

Funny thing is, I've got myself one hell of a girl.

Loves D&D, GURPS, rock climbing, kayaking, camping, and hiking. Couldn't ask for more IMHO.

Such events are funny at the time.

See a Bloodthirster get beat up by Tau, funny at the time, not so funny on the net.

We have all got stories like that.

I've seen WHFB zombies kill a bloodthirster
I've seen a single WHFB skeleton run down 2 large blocks of skaven
I've seen a Chaplin make 8 out of 8 5+ saves in one round of shooting
I've seen a Wolf Guard Battle Leader make 24 out of 25 saves throughout the game
I've seen that same Wolf Guard Battle leader kill 2 Demon Princes and 5 Bloodcrushers all by himself
I've seen Blood Claws miss all 12 powerfist attacks on the charge
I've seen 3 gauss rifle shots immobilize and detroy 2 weps on a land raider on turn 1
I've seen a 30 boy mob of orks fail to kill a single regular PA marine on the charge.
I've seen a single PA marine kill 6 Genestealers in close combat

its good fun to the people involved, and joking with your buddies about it is great. Even if you are on the bad-end of the rolls and lose the game because of it.

My girlfriend and one of her friends were at the McDonalds we always meet at before going places waiting for me to get there. Apparently a couple of booths over there were some pretty straight-up nerdy types (acne, anime shirts, at least one or two unbathed). As she tells it, one of them kept leaning over toward her and asking/yelling random questions. He would ask one, she would say no, and he would wait a few minutes that repeat the whole socially painful process. A few of his questions were: "Are you going to A-kon?"
"Have you seen (insert random anime name)?"
"Do you know any good places to Cosplay?"
As they were leaving he asked her if he would see her around to which she hesitantly replied, "uhh... maybe? Probably not." I had just pulled as they were walking out so immediately when I got inside so I caught a glimpse. It wasn't pretty.

Thats rough for him lol, alil worse than seeing my friend take five termie saves, roll all ones, then shake his opponents hand and pack up

Another "you had to be there" moment:
My opponent's face after his first turn when his Tau missed every single shooting roll, allowing a third of my orks to calmly climb out of their transports and butcher his firewarriors and his stealth suits in CC.

Yeah, that was great.

A Dwarf Cannon fired at my Stone Troll and took 3 wounds. I then rolled triple 1s for my Regeneration (4+)
then I rolled triple 1s for Armour Save (5+). It probably isnt that funny to you but I was hilarious at the time.

I got a laugh from you effort to try and explain how this was the lawls.

Armour saves against cannonballs? Even if you weren't making your checks in the wrong order you'd be wrong.

this was about something funny and it became a maths fest
