Yeah Gamesday's are great fun I went last year for the first time and there's loads of stuff to do. In hall 1 I think there's the Black library stall and meet the authors, theres also the forgeworld stand, historical, roleplay and the making and painting stations. Somwhere in between that and the main hall there's the computer games and the design studio, there's also some archives and display tables, In the main hall there's participation games, hundreds of them, plus you have the golden demon entries!

I think Games Day depends on how old you are. I've been once and was lucky enough to be invited as VIP so we had our own room away from the main arena and private access to the design team, Forgeworld, etc etc. Without that, I would have lasted about an hour before walking out.

For me, it was full of screaming kids who'd been let out on a day without their parents for the first time ever. Coach loads of brats running around dead excited clogging up the stands getting autographs of anyone just for the sake of it. Whilst people who actually wanted to have a conversation with some of the authors / designers about things or future plans couldn't, because you were shouldered and barged by brats all eager to collect more autographs on their codexes than their mates. Basically, if I hadn't been invited as a VIP, I'd have been VERY disappointed.

I'd brought an army along and set up on a table with a friend, only to pack it all away within 20 mins, as we both have very nice armies that attracted too much attention from kids just picking models up and 'ooing' to their mates, which rattles me something cronic! After my mate realised one of his Russ Vanquishers had 'dissapeared' I checked and found some incomplete squads, it was time to pack up. The worse thing is knowing who took a model, reporting them to a staff member, and the GW guy saying that no-one has the authority to detain him, if they call the Police they'll get laughed at, and if they did turn up, the Police couldn't search the lad without parents present (he's under 16), who were not going to drive the 360 mile round trip to be there. I was told by the GW guy 'PS, if you try to search or stop him, we'll have to report you to the Police'.

The only plus's are being able to see the newest lastest models or 'greens', but to be fair, with the power of dakkadakka.com, you'll see all the pictures here anyway. The Golden Deamon you can't really take your time to have a good look at the models, because of the constant influx of brats barging in front of you and if you ask one of them to move, you get a barage of insults so they can show off in front of their mates, knowing that you can't say anything back because their under the age of 16 and GW will kick you out in an instant, if the Police haven't heard about it first!

Basically, if you're under the age of 16, you'll love it, 16-20 and its ok, +20 its crap / you've entered Golden Deamon / your escorting brats out for the day.

Rant over with.

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

I've been to several, and whilst to a certain extent, the view above is accurate(at least as far as screaming brats are concerned), there's a lot of stuff there you can do, from buying at an actual Forgeworld stand, to playing Dawn of War. I'll admit, after you've been a few times, the thrill fades, and it's not a place to be if you get at all claustrophobic, but it's worth it for the experience at least once.

I went last year for the first time, at the tender age of 13, and I really enjoyed it. Even though I am under 16, TheSecretSquig has a real point. Although sometimes Adults can be just aas guilty! Especially at the Golden Demon viewing cabinets. I got pushed and shoved so many times by Adults it was unreal. But still a fantastic day! I wouldn't recommend taking an Army yourself though, just participate in the battles already set up. It should be another great day this year.

I`d avoid it unless your a GW fanboi. You get shuved all over, trampled etc by kids who shouldnt even be allowed out. Then theres the fact the only reason to go now is to talk to people like designers and lets face it if your a disgruntled fan your only gonna talk about the prices anyway. I wouldnt buy anything, not just for the price but any good stuff is usually gone in about 5 minutes from the affordable FW stand anyway. If you go its really your own risk. Watch out for your screaming wallet id say

Bah you lot are all miserable buggers.

I shared that opinion for the longest time and stayed away, but last year at the age of 28 I went back for the first time in ages (about 8 years or so) and had an amazing day out. Sure, I was like a kid in a candy store, but I had FUN. Played the bloodbowl PC game, asked irritating questions to Alessio, saw the design / production process machinery gawped at painting I couldn't hope to match.

What the F, it's only once a year, go immerse yourself in geekdom and enjoy it.

I went once, in 2003. Immersed myself in geekdoom and promptly puked all over the place!

Nah. If your balls have dropped you're too old...

Im going this year cheifly because i hope to enter golden demon, just for the thrill of entering mind i wont win! Ive been before and the rants above about it being full of kids running around and crashing into you/shoving/shouting etc is all true, but im a pretty big bloke so they usually crash off me and come off worse? I reccomend it to new people for the experience, but ive never been one to go each year and i never will. this is my 2nd time going.

victory needs no explanation, defeat allows none. ultramarines 15000 pts

One thing I did confirm is that there is no way I'll ever be a Golden Demon level painter.

I strolled by the GD painter's bunker thing, and boy howdee did I underestimate how much photography messed up the look of a model. The models I saw looked unholy. In a good way.
