I'm going to have to get back into the HH series this summer, I've been so swamped with work that I haven't managed to get past book 4. A Thousand Sons looks good, I always did like the 1k Sons.

I'm gussing the later is the follow up to the first?

Should be good, will be the first time Russ or the Space Wolves have featured in the HH series besides in mention.

I'm just hoping they don't completely destroy one of the few stories in the 40k universe that I actually enjoy. I'll find out soon enough I guess.

I believe the intent is for them to interact and present two different accounts/version of the same event, 2 sides of the same coin kind of thing.Presumably with each book being more focused on its respective "stars".

And with the SW codex screamin closer like an Anvil marked Acme, I looking forward to seeing someone converting a Russ mini like the cover. Tis awesome!

I doubt that is meant to be Russ.

Edit: Second thoughts you might be right, think thats freki and geri beside of him. GW must have backtracked on there past images and descriptions of Russ.

The Two Wolves are Clearly Ferki and Gerki, however the Blade he is using does not match up to the description of Mjolnar, his Legendary Frost Blade.

But anyway, it is a Kick ass Cover!

Well, since when have GW ever been that consistent but yeah, the Mjolnar thing could easily be explained by the fact that, as a Motherfething Primarch, he has lots of Axe's/Swords etc. He was a "Barbarian" after all he'd just as likely stick to one weapon as learn which spoon is which at the dinner table

Yeh plus the fact he was always pictured with bright red hair and described (together with magnus) as a giant who towered over space marines.

But yeah, I think its just a bit confusing. Those wolves at first glance make it seem like it is Russ, but it might be not.

What really got my eye was the Shoulder pads, they look a quite a bit like the ones here:

and

with the Studs and all that jazz, pluss the sword looks similar in each. In fact, I will be so bold as to say it IS the same sword. The Hilt and Guard patterns are near on Identical.
And of course, in 1 pic he is Red Haired and in the other he is blond. Go Figure!

On an Unrelated note, I foundf this quotation attributed to Leman Russ on Lexicanum:

The John Blanche 1? John Blanche's sketches most of his pictures in that colour.

I know its his style, but he uses a lot of yellows and reds. The hair is clearly more on the yellow side than red. And there is also the OLD OLD black and white picture that has his hair in White with no shading to indicate anything.

It's a style of sketching, it doesn't denote any hair colour.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fairly sure it's meant to be russ now. But I won't agree that it's the established image of him.

+ isn't prospero meant to be desert hot?

Most likely Buildings the Thousand Sons made on Prospero. They were a bunch of pretentious gits after all.

Figure in the rear is Magnus.

And SW have some sisters of silence to counter the spells.

Maybe a redone "russ and his wolves" ( old metal mini ) would be nice, if they look like this cover.

Yea, GW retconned Magnus to have two sockets, but one is skinned over, and only has one eye, ratherthan the classical cylops.

As for the pyramids, theyre the buildings that the inhabitants of prospero built...ever notice the thousand sons egyptian theme??
