I remember a white dwarf which had rules for allying 40k in 40minutes armies. I think was before/shortly after 4th ed, not long after the origional 40k in 40mins rules had been published in white dwarf. There was a grid showing who could ally with who.

The catagories were something like "battle brothers" (eg SM with SM or IG with IG) = no penalty, "trusted allies" (eg IG with SM) = no penalty, "distrusted ally/something similar" (Orks with IG) = a Ld penalty if memory serves me and finally "May not ally" (daemon hunters with chaos)

It actually had some fairly odd rulings in it. For example Witch hunters and IG were listed as "distrusted allies" and necrons had "may not ally" with everybody except other necrons!

I'll have a look at my WD collection and find the number for you when i get home from work lol!
