When I use GW Scorched grass it forms in to balls when I shake it causing problems. I tend to get away with it, but do people normally experience this and how do they deal with it?

Thanks

Its reasons like that, that I dont use flock. It depends on how your "dumping" it out. You should pour it into your hands (on a big table like that) and grind/rub your hands together. It keeps it from dumping out in globs. Never just pour it from the bag, it almost never comes out smooth. Good luck

I would say for a mini either paint the base or leave it alone.

But on terrain I would say find something at a hardware store a craft store or even possibly a pet shop that you may use as a substitute.

I'm guessing you use battle matts?

I'm going to try the Hornby Flock Shaker on the next tile, railway modellors don't seem to have any issues

You can also store your flocking in large shaker jars, so that you can sprinkle it over large areas like that, which would help keep the dispersion nice and even.

The shaker jar is a great idea. I used to have this problem too but it went away when I started to custom blend my flock. The mixing most likely broke up any clumps that were in there.

Go to Walmart in the kitchen utensil department. Get some wire strainers there are different kinds. Get the three finest grades as in the three with the smallest holes. Sift the flocking through the sieve and there you go no clumps.

I use the Noch static grass myself, and put it into a spice shaker. Never really had any issues with balls of it.

(you can get 100g bags of this stuff for less than GW charge for a 20g tub)

I dont use battle mats, they annoy me lol. Like stated previously, use a substitute. Ive used kitty litter in the past (worked great) and I guess goto a hardware store and just look around. Youd be surprised at what you can use for basing, Id say NEVER leave a base blank, it looks weird and unfinished.

Bases are never a problem, is large areas like the table in the picture where i get the clumping
