Looking to play a few games against my friends who play Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, and Tyranids and I'm wondering if this list is any good? Credit goes to Shep for his lists as they greatly inspired this trimmed version.

HQ:
CCS 4x Meltas Chimera HF
CCS 4x Meltas Chimera HF

Elites
Pyskers x8 Chimera HF
Pyskers x8 Chimera HF

Troops
Vets x3 Melta Chimera HF
Vets x3 Melta Chimera HF

Definitely an interesting and pretty cool list, but why did you decide to take the two psyker battle squads even though your only unit capable of dealing the needed 25% casualties are your Tanks?

Otherwise, fairly solid list for 1500 Pt. Just hope that your Chimeras don't get cracked open early. Without their Heavy Flamers horde armies will decimate you.

Drop a chimera & use your vendetta. Melta only really works within 6" & only works at all within 12". A 24" flat-out move from a valkyrie can guarentee this.

Otheriwse, I cant fault it - cept your weak on troops.

I did think that monoliths may pose you a problem - you not being able to really touch them at all (besides the vendetta & any decent necron player will shoot that down fairly quickly) but you will be able to either annhilate his necrons or simply ride them off of the board..

Looks Meta listy.

I took a pair of Psykers because I know the people I'm playing against will have a hatred of them and make sure they take them out as early as they can, so I figured a spare can't hurt and even if they aren't reducing leadership that blast could be a game changer on its own.

As for dropping a Chimera was considering doing that and dropping in an armored sentinel to tar pit with, but I'm still not sold on the idea.

Like the look of it I am still not convinced of the HF on hull's. Once again like most people who are making IG you have
so Few Capturing units that can take Obj. **with out dieing.

The Plasma Tanks rock though !! Like the psyker Idea maybe get a inquistior in to this list anti Pskyer.

HF's are for 'nids and hordes and can take some units off of cover and objectives. As far as scoring, I'm considering adding a Vet squad to the Vendetta and taking out a CCS.

Got all the right units... looks pretty good. But I agree with the guys... I think we all push it when we run 3x vets at 1750. Sometimes it gets a little bit hairy. I think 1500 is too big for 2 troops.

If you could somehow get 50 points together for 5 ISTs then you could just stuff them in the vendetta.

Your list is very tight, I think the best place to take from would be the second CCS. You could either use those extra 100 points to buy a single hydra, or make those ISTs into some grey knights or some sisters of battle for that vendetta.

If you can get those troops at the right size, then you've certainly got anti-horde, anti-terminator, and anti-mech covered from the rest of your choices.

could always toss in another vet squad with the grenadiers doctrine - demo charge and melta bombs. I got to use those today and felt relieved to have that anti-dread in CC. Plus demo charges rock

So I ended up playing with this list:

HQ
CCS x4 Meltas Chimera HF
CCS x4 Meltas

Elites
Psykers x8 Chimera HF
Psykers x8 Chimera HF

Troops
Vets x3 Meltas Chimera HF
Vets x3 Meltas Chimera HF

Fast Attack
Vendetta
Armored Sentinel

Heavy Support
LR Execution Plasma Sponsons
LR Execution Plasma Sponsons

My Opponent had this Chaos list:

HQ
Abaddon (With Troops in a Land Raider)

Elites
5x Chosen 4x Meltas, 5x Melta Bombs, Rhino 2x TL Bolters
5x Chosen 4x Meltas, 5x Melta Bombs, Rhino 2x TL Bolters
5x Chosen 4x Meltas, 5x Melta Bombs, Rhino 2x TL Bolters

Troops
4x CM Aspiring Champion, P Fist, 1x Melta, Rhino 2x TL Bolters
4x CM Aspiring Champion, Melta Bombs, 1x Melta, Rhino 2x TL Bolters

Heavy Support
Land Raider

We ended up playing Dawn of War and we each had one base to defend. I didn't really think to record what happened for a decent Battle Report, but in the end we had a draw due to him having one Rhino at my objective and me having my Vendetta at his objective.

I'm hoping that when you say Armored Sentinel you took more than just 1...

No, just one, I figured that it could tarpit most CM units very well even if they do have krak grenades. If I see a twenty man Berserker unit and I can get the charge off then they have very little hope of getting out of there in less than two turns.

While thats great & all.. with you including two PBS's & lots of chimeras all round.. I think you need to solidfy your troops first before you go for close combat tarpits.

So, with that most recent list, Swap a CCS with meltas for a vet squad with meltas & swap that armoured sentinel for a rocket-pod equipped valkyrie.

Wow he really went nasty anti-mech, with the exception of abbadon.

Good job staying with him with all that outflanking. It is TOUGH to stop chosen from blocking home objectives.

I'm wondering if in your list, you give the CCS back their chimera and take one away from the troops. Since both of them are melta delivery systems, it might be cool to have a troop that is very mobile in the vendetta.

However i do see the danger of that, as getting out to melta something in the backfield is a death sentence, and I'm sure you would rather see a CCS die than a vet unit in an objective game.

I ended up not using the Vendetta as a transport at all, but as a decoy. My CCS walked on and killed a rhino carrying a chosen squad before losing two members to the explosion they caused and being shot to death the on his shootinmg phase.

I'd drop a CCS, a PBS, and the Sentinel to get a 3rd unit of Vets (to ride in a Vendetta) and a second Vendetta. If you have extra points then go with an Astropath and/or Officer of the Fleet in your command squad. The Astropath aids your outflanking Vendettas and the OotF can help you avoid enemy outflanking units showing up where you don't want them, as well as force his reserves to come in more piecemeal so you don't have to deal with as much of his army at a time.

Looks like a solid plan, this was my first list with new guard and I fought a pretty decent CM player down to a draw, so a few tweaks and I should be golden.

EDIT: I found my having two squads of pyskers good against the list I faced simply because one in the middle wouldn't have had the same line of site. I think that I might drop a CCS and my Sentinel and add another Vet sqaud for next time though. The other change I'm going to make is having my PBS's chimeras armed with H/Bolters for additional light armor killers and the potential ability to force an Ld test at range.

Exactly right. I have been using 2 PBS and 2 executioners for that very reason. I deploy them on my flanks, and then when i kill the enemy transport if it doesn't blow up, it is impossible to stay out of LOS to all my weaken resolve and all my plasma blasts.

I've tweaked my list a little and here's the refined version:

HQ
CCS 4x Melta Chimera HF

Elites
PBS Psykers x8 Chimera HB
PBS Psykers x8 Chimera HB

Troops
Vets 3x Melta Chimera HF
Vets 3x Melta Chimera HF
Vets 2x Melta Chimera HF

Fast Attack
Vendetta

Heavy Support
LR Executioner Plasma Spons.
LR Executioner Plasma Spons.

I'd add inquisitorial forces but I don't have that codex on hand so I'll have to pick one up and take a peak. Also, I'm going to leave an extra transport so I can have some variability in how I deploy one game you could see troops in the Vendetta, next game the CCS, next game empty sort of deal.
