Thanks Cap! Ive been looking for a tutorial on how to do lava bases. I looked on dakka, and found one, and thats where I got this idea. I asked the customer if he wanted a better base and he said that was exactly what he had in mind. I would redo it, but he likes it, so I dont want to redo it and have him say "I liked it the old way"....that would be bad. Good links though, ill have to remember those for future bases...Thanks!

Ok, So I got another Servitor done today. I think the base on this one came out a little nicer because i was able to capture the glow from the lava. Also, Sorry for not alot of pictures, the battery in my camera died.I will try and get some better ones tomorrow. Enjoy!

I think that it looks great, when you get better, It would be really cool to se you do some blending on things like the cape!

Yeah I agree. I dont really have a large selection of green,, so I did not want to attempt mixing colors.

^ i did this sort of highlighting on my storage crates, it gives a nice comic book/borderlands feel to it.. which i do like and as long as the client likes that style all is well

I think they look good.
One thing, though. The green on the cape is too extreme of a change and would be more suited to extreme highlighting. May I suggest toning down the green with like a 50:50 base and highlight of what you're using?

@^^ You may certainly suggest. I asked the customer about that today, so I will see what he says. He told me that he liked the "Comic Book" type of fade. I have asked him if he likes the cloaks or if he wants me to change them. But yeah, I do agree, it is a bit extreme.

Looks pretty good! One thing though the flesh needs some highlights.....but thats just me.

I actually did highlight the flesh, you just cant see it because of the light.

Did you use a normal base for the lava? the guys are looking good man! But some of the hilighting is a bit big however, I do that all of the time! Btw ia thias your first FW modle?

yeah its nice, you can just imagine him about to cut some deamon prince's face off or something And yet at the same time he could be doing an inspiring posey sword thrust thing. Very nice posing and basing indeed.

Is that the photo making it look like the paint needs thinned? I would also do some blending on that sword.
