Can't listen to the vids yet. Was it confirmed that the only pick-and-choose close-combat rule was Martial Arts. Being a leveled skill, it made sense in that way. But there was still some uncertainty of whether you could do things like mix a level of MA with Berzerk and have that over top of, say, Assault.
Or combine things like Natrual Born Warrior and i-Kohl together.
Because things like MA4+Assault, or MA1+Berzerk+Assault will make for some nasty combos when you get down to it. I'm just hoping this is possible and that the only things that don't stack are the various MA levels.

Hmm... what I know:
- Yes, it's been confirmed that you have to choose one of the MA levels among the ones you have available.
- Assault is a part of Berzerk. Troops with Berzerk have Assault. Troops with Assault might not have Berzerk.
- On mixing Berzerk + Assault + MA, as far as I understood it, I think it's possible.
That is, quite simply, one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
Agreed completely.

That Umbra Legate's hand gesture... How very rude.
At this point all the little bits and pieces of info are getting confusing. I think we'll need to see the entire new ruleset, and play a few games, before we can real assess it.

The video made a distinction between what was termed "Direct Templates" and "Terminal Templates".
Direct Templates are simply placed and include Chain Rifles, Flamethrowers, Nanopulsers, etc. This ignores cover.
Terminal Templates require a target to attack and then place a template at the target. These include Rocket Launchers and Shotguns. I do not believe these ignore cover.

To be fair, shotguns are pretty terrible outsite of point blank range. If you're letting a shotgun get that close to you to dominate, either your board is too cluttered (they're apparently trying to get people to adopt the Spanish terrain setups, which have a lot less scatter terrain and are less dense overall), or you just were being silly and let a shotgun get into point blank range and really deserve it.

With Boarding Shotguns getting a +6 at close range, they may become much more useful. Plus, many models that have shotguns tend to have it as a 'side arm' of sorts. Haqqislam gives light shotguns to everyone to pretty much complement their rifles to make up for their lack of Combi Rifles.

Well yeah, but my point is still - if someones getting close enough to dominate with shotguns (not their sidearms, not the weapon its slung to, the shotgun specifically), you've either got too much terrain down (Infinity isn't about placing as much terrain as possible - you need to really think about table setup so no one range band dominates) or you simply let someone get close enough to dominate with them.

Just curious what exactly is the "assault" rule. I searched on the infinity wiki and couldn't find anything nor google.

Assault isn't in the Wiki because it's a 3rd edition rule.
Assault lets you combine both MOV values to make a long charge and get a free CC attack at -3 to hit when you reach base to base contact, as long as you have Line of Sight to the enemy when you declare it.
This is instead of the usual rule that if you spend only your first MOV getting to combat, you can make your second short order a CC attack, but if you use both short orders on movement to get there, you don't get to swing until your next order.

It's a new rule.
It's essentially a "Charge". If you have LOS to your target at the beginning of the Order, you may move the full X-Y distance and then perform a CC attack at -3. This is all one Order.

Not sure about those as new CA minis? Sure I read something about the Sogarat and new concept art for that, although I may have confused it for a Suryat?
NuclearMessiah wrote:HMG Sogarat is coming December, no info on any new Rasyats yet, however we do have a new Morat unit coming along next year sometime.
Thanks! Good news on the Soga, December will be here before I know it. Wish the Ras was on it's way though.
New players shouldn't really get caught up watching the N3 preview videos. They are meant more for experienced players who know the current rules & want to see how the game will change.
I know nobody likes the noob treatment. However, it is better to just wait a little while (start painting your minis) and learn everything fresh when N3 is released.
These videos are slices of the N3 rules that don't readily fit into our understanding as of second edition. Also many clips end with Carlos saying there will be more aspects to each topic that we'll only see once the final rules come out.
Icestorm is on the shelves now. Get that, start tinkering with those noob rules, paint those models, consider getting some more support units (Iguana, Jotum, Auxila, Interventors) & worry about the full implications of N3 in 2015.
Is that a natural 21?

I'm not sure what to make of that discontinued list. Does the second last category mean that those models are just gone completely or will just get new numbers? (like the Sikh Commandos) The part about no army profiles would indicate the former but I'm really not knowledgeable about how infinity handles edition swaps and new replacement models/sculpts.

Huh, Hellcats aren't on the list though. Should be a nice boon for them in the face of the advantages of the Tiger and the Ragik (especially with the way Dogged works now for the latter). Honesltly, given the profile shift, I prefer the Spitfire for my Tigers anyways. And I'm glad the vanilla Invincible is going away to be replaced by a wealth of more specialized profiles that do its job better than it ever did.

And combi? Th way it looks there, they're not making an N3 profile for one of the models in Icestorm...
“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

They were a double blister.
The Akalis with Combi Rifle is now in the upcoming PanOceania starter, and if the Akalis are losing the HMG then there is no real reason to retain the blister.
Same thing goes with the Tiger Soldiers and Hassassin Ragiks to be honest.

Well, looks like I need to make an order or two. So long Exrah, we hardly knew ye.
I suspect that a lot of those unit are getting new sculpts. I hope that since the Ahl Fassed listing is staying that they get some new moxels and higher AVA.

The wording of "References discontinued due to the release of N3, PENDING OF RENEWAL(their profiles will remain at the Army):" for the Ahl Fassed, Haqla, and Avicenna tends to agree with you.
The ones directly above that are basically all blisters that have their components inside of starter boxes or in the case of Fusiliers have an upcoming box with the special options.

We really are missing a lot of the pieces of the big picture, but that actually makes me more excited for what is to come. Obviously they are trending away from HMGs on drop troops but that just makes those that keep the HMG to be that much more unique. It diversifies the troops more. At least that is the way I see it.
